Love the guitar panning. This starts out with the feel of that old school blues environment where heartbreak and sadness reap havoc on the lives of musicians everywhere. Then it moves into a rhythmic interlude that kind of threw me for a loop. The sudden tempo change was startling at first. But the second go round of it brought in the familiarity of the lead guitar and that made my musical sensibilities calm down, shut up and listen. If you added some Latin percussion it would have a Santana like flair to it. Although it took me a minute to adjust to the tempo swings, in the end I totally understood this awesome piece of music. I hope you will add some vocals someday. It would be fun to hear what you come up with.

Thank you, Stoneman. I took your suggestion and added congas to the faster sections of the song. I also added a second guitar solo in the first fast section because it seemed empty without it.
I too was wary of the sudden tempo change but I went with it because it seemed unexpected just like danger is hard to predict. I wanted a rock twist on a traditional blues theme. The protagonist in the song is lulled into a false sense of safety by the slow blues. Then he's kicked in the ass by the femme fatale when the rock part comes in. Yes, I was definitely in a "Santana" mood when I wrote this, so the percussion seems totally appropriate. I hope you'll give it another listen.

You are a real virtuoso on that axe mister man. this tune works great as an instrumental and really shows off your playing, which sometimes takes a backseat to the lyrics. Lyric-wise, I'm always a little leery of rhymes like "crazy/hazy" - they're a bit too overused. But you get a great voice on there and it can make it all work. The faster section is a great change up - you never see it coming. The piano work is nice against the guitar and there's some great percussion.

Wow! what a difference some congas make! They seem to compliment the tempo change a lot more to me. It's kind of like they make the tempo change make sense. Yes, this give homage to Santana for sure now. The mark of a good song is when it sounds even better each time you hear it. This is a good song and I am looking forward to hearing it with vox.

Thank you Tom, Stoneman and Delores. I really appreciate all the kind words.
It's interesting to see how important percussion seems to be to folks. I use congas and other kinds of percussion on many of my songs but I try not to just throw it in on everything which would be fun but not always appropriate on some rock songs.
Stoneman was right about the Santana vibe of the song since that group has always been a hybrid of rock and salsa. Therefore the congas seemed totally cool after many attempts to get the right arrangement. Thanks again for the encouragement!!!
The words are still under construction but it's hard to reinvent the wheel when it comes to blues and blues lyrics. The music is usually the dominant factor in blues but lyrical tweaks are certainly under consideration. They're a work in progress.

Like the piano and the weird rumbly thing down in the left speaker. Those are odd touches I like. The speed change is cool. Little harder going back to slow, but going up to fast easily works.
I would only sing on the fast part.

wow this has a serious Pink Floyd feel to me - loved it. I'd love to hear it with heavy rocky drum kit in addition to congas on the fast bit but thought it's great anyway. It stands alone as an intrumental piece to me.
