I guess you should say thank you...
if you're on my Station that is. Or any Station really.

Artists want their songs heard, right? And obviously one way that happens here at IMP is for their songs to be placed on Stations. Most successful Stationmasters take the time to listen to songs, and make intelligent decisions about which songs to include on their Stations.

I know I do.

And the reward? Mostly it lies in seeing the songs selected, getting exposure, and the artist achieving some measure of success. But there's one other piece of the process that contributes -- having the artists whose songs were placed on the Station, drop by and post a quick "Thank you" on the station tagboard.

It seems obvious, but maybe it's not. And a fair percentage of active artists do do this. Maybe most. But some do not. Are they too big, too busy, or just clueless?

Probably clueless. But let me thank you on behalf of everybody!

I always say thank you and if I remember I say it here too.

I hope I didn't miss a song of mine you added to one of your stations. If I did let me know and I'll correct that. :)

Well, to be honest with you, I really do not follow that at all. I don't look at my stats or check for station ads. I am grateful for the plays and adds, of course, but I am simply not into the numbers like that. I used to be a long time ago. And I am not into self-promotion, either. I suppose if I was plugging my songs real hard but not being thankful you could possibly call me an asshole. Or say that I was ungrateful. But I am not involved like that. I may add a song to my page this week. I may never add another song ever again.

So as long as I am here responding and explaining, I will conclude by taking a moment to say, "Thank you to everyone who digs my songs. I really do appreciate you even though I may never say anything about it."

For a Finn it is very hard to be polite and attentive.
We are used to VERY subtle ways of showing friendliness, thankfulness and other similar things. A shy smile is a LOT for us and showing appreciation often feels artificial and fake.

So, if a Finn shows a little something it means most often more than showing a lot of something.
We, of course, still appreciate kind things and when you see us do kind things to others, you can be sure we do mean what we do or say!

Vack, I too noticed the resemblance to Francesca's song title and while I think your message was good, it was lame to single anyone out cause many artists don't get around to thank people for station adds.

For me?

It's just the right thing to do. Musical etiquette.

I have no idea about the song in question but if I had a station and I wasn't thanked by the artist for adding their song? It would be gone in a week. Sorry that's just me.

It's not an orientation that is common. i've seen people who were active members of this site go months without understanding the station realm. That they wouldn't know to go on station tagboards is pretty understandable.

I try to say thank you for every add, but sometimes I miss one or two. It happens. And, for those who added me, that I missed saying a timely "thank you," I apologize.
And, I thank you sincerely from the bottom of my heart.
It's true, getting heard IS the reason that I am doing this, and every single station add not only helps, but it also means that at least one more person (the station manager), HAS listened to the song.
So... again... thank you.
