Da Funkk! (Featuring: MAXIMUM RAPPADELIC)
One of my goals for this year is to do a lot more collaborating with other artists. This is one of my favorites so far as it was done with an artist from Detroit known as Maximum Rappadelic. I wrote and produced the music for this one and he did all of the vocals. It is a throw back take on the my one of my favorite eras in music. the Funk era of the 70's and 80's. George Clinton (the inventor of Psycho Funk) and Parliament/Funkadelic are one of my all time favorite groups. I played in several funk bands and we opened for those guys twice. Their shows with the flying space ship landing on stage were quite the spectacle. but their music is timeless. Maximum Rappadelic and his consortium of Funk artists have continued to press the funk issue by adding rap to the P Funk style. It was a joy writing and producing this music for such a nostalgic artist. Hope you like it!

This is great - I'm a total fan of the old school funk bands as well. I love that hook you have happening behind the verses - not sure how you did that ... keys? rhythm guitar? electronica?

Drums: Redrum Drum Computer

Funkkalicious! That was a nice trip. You can really feel the nature of the genuine article in this - not just someone playing a style, but someone who has lived it.

great blend of different styles and realistic sounding brass section.....very creative collaboration that harkens back to the day when funk was actually funky! Stoneman and friends are bringing "funky" back! Amen to that.

Thanks Tom and Richard, your positive remarks are sincerely appreciated. Transitioning back into this style of music felt almost effortless and void of any tedium. The funk is still alive and well. I am having fun this year going hear and there working with lots of cool artists while still making time to do my own projects. I haven't done this kind of thing in a long time. Stay Funked Up Fellas!
