Sumthin's 'Bout 2 Change
In between the many collaborations I am working on this first half of the year, I was able to produce this Funk/Jazz tune. I went way back in the closet and found my old Olympic Bass Guitar because I like the sound of the old school thumb roll on it. It only took me 4 hours to complete this project. I may have played too much guitar on it but I like it that way. Anyway, the song is about a man and woman who have been best friends for many years. All of a sudden they realize that their relationship is changing into a romantic relationship. Lots of risks involved in stuff like that. Hope you like the song.

Hey Stoneman I like this funky number! I like the line ..."the good and plenty of your thighs..." it made me smile. The only thing I found slightly distracting was the fractionally out of sync clapping in places which I felt detracts a little from the production. Mind you, sometimes you stop noticing those things after a few listens - maybe it's a bit high in the mix or something. I hope you don't mind me saying that as I think it's a really good song. I'm adding it to Over The Moon as it's so catchy and classic.

Chandra,

Thank you so much for listening. The clap you referred to is actually a snare drum that I put a Flam effect on. It gives it the feeling of being slightly behind the beat but it is not. The flam effect actually makes it spread out with each strike and that's what makes it sound like a clap. It was a production decision I made and I liked it at the time that I did it. But if I find that others don't care for it I will take the flam off later and go with a straight beat with real timing. Thank you for pointing that out to me as your observations are well respected. Also, thank you so much for adding this song to your station.

Much Respect

Oh that's interesting I thought it was a clapping effect. I know what flams are but I would never have guessed! Great song either way!

Hay-uhl yeah. That's like that great soul sound from the early 70s where it's all about celebrating love and sex straightforward. Listening to this was like listening to a lost gem from that time. And the rap was fresh at the end - took it to a more contemporary place.

Tom took the words right out of my mouth! Your work is so consistently wonderful that it's hard to keep coming up with new superlatives to keep up with it's brilliance.
But I will continue to try!

Can't imagine how you whip up something like this out of thin air - it sounds so great. I like the rap and keyboards at the end too - puts another dimension in there

Chandra, Tom, Richard and Delores,

Thanks so much for the positive comments and support for my work. You all are great artists in your own rights and it feels special coming from you. Yes, the rap at the end was a production decision that seems to have given the song another quality. Thanks Again!
