It does seem that way. People are obsessed with their phones. They can't put them down for 5 minutes. Go to any restaurant and you will see a bunch of people with their heads down looking at their phones. My nephew came from Washington DC to visit and he was floored when he realized that neither me or my wife have a smart phone. He offered to buy me one but I told him to save his money. Its not that I can't afford one its just that I don't need or want one. Judging by what I have seen with people and these damn phones. The real epidemic in the USA is not opioids. It is smart phones!

I got my first smartphone this year. Now I wonder how I lived without it for so long, and at the same time, I am glad I waited. I only gave the number to a small handful of people, and maintain my old number on my dumb phone. The dumb phone is a better fu...

But seriously, if you want to compete in the current environment you have to be familiar with the current technology. I do have to admit. I enjoy having every book I would ever want to read or reread and every song I would ever want to listen to in my pocket. However, I do not do any kind of banking or serious business on it. I don't trust it that much yet.

And I went with Android. Not iPhone.

Larree,I have an Android as well, I like it, and I agree they are a good thing, but in balance and if used properly.. although some people just dont know when to put it down, driving and looking down on their lap not paying attention to the task at hand while in traffic, we have now here in BC more accidents and deaths caused by these devices then drunk driving.

Other incidences, people walking on a sidewalk not paying attention and unaware of others and so engrossed with this they bump into people.

how about at restaurants, I see all these people with their phones, not everyone ,some who are looking down at what is happening then the people they should be conversion with,I have seen as have others other instances and things which people with this devices that interfere with their relationships or at their jobs which is mind boggling. Zombies and near the state of being addicted. use it as a tool, not using it being a fool

I am convinced that when this generation reaches elderly status there is going to be an epidemic of people with severe neck disorders from looking down at their phone for hours every day. That has got to be taking some kind of toll on their necks because that is not a natural thing to be looking down all the time. In addition to that, is the eye strain that people have from trying to see those little screens. Yep, gonna be some very blind elders in that group also. One thing I have learned from getting old is that everything you do in your youth (physically) has a price to be paid when you get old. Every previously broken bone aches, every bullet hole burns, knife stab scars hurt when it gets cold and former repetitive motions become laborious and painful at the same time. God's joke on our bodies is the fact that when we are young we think we can do anything and then when we get old, everything we did comes back to haunt us. The fucking circus of life is what I call it. But watch what I say. There are already some pretty bad ailments from people typing on those tiny screens with their thumbs.
