Why do we often irrationally hate authority figures?
Most of them are just doing their best, aren't they?

Oh Gee.

Are you an irrationally hated authority figure?
Uh, just try hard not to be an asshole?

Just guessin'.

I'm a bit of an authority on a lot of stuff and I'm an obnoxious sunuvagun.

Hey! I AM an asshole too!

Oh no wonder.
Okay, at least I now know WHY you all hate me.

But you gotta love Elvis.

Elvis Is King.

The King Is Back.

Whoohoooo. Yay King.

As musicians, many of us have worked lot's of different "day" jobs to make ends meet and do our music. More often than not, the "bosses" of those 9 - 5 jobs were not people an employee could actually look up to or be inspired by. They are usually insecure and troubled people who enjoy subjugating others. In school I had some good teachers but some of them made my life miserable. In short, I think that many of us have had bad experiences with people in power and rightly or wrongly that seems to spill over on to our impression of authority figures in general. I won't even mention how authoritarian politicians are jerks. But I just did!

The human condition has a flaw, those who aquire power over others quickly become "Gatekeepers" ie; they can block your attempts to succeed, on a mere whim, they can abuse their authority, in so many different ways---often they have got to their position, by backstabbing their colleagues, or sucking up to people of influence---sometimes they are sociopaths, look at some of the world leaders today, I would not trust them to babysit my child yet they are running the free world---go figure !

Well, the world population has increased 20 times in 700 years. Unfortunately, the human race has not changed so much. We still have the insane mentality which drove the first world war...a war which even the smartest google researcher could never find a justification for. Honestly, no war ever could be justified by any rational behavior. It will always be ego. Sad part is the US spends most of our tax towards military spending. As far as I can sense it, this power will be used in the near future if the President who I believe will be President will come into office..meaning another useless war may be around the corner. My grandchildren will have to figure out why this war happened, as I will never figure out why the first world war happened.

In demographics, the world population is the total number of humans currently living. As of March 2016, it was estimated at 7.4 billion.[1] The United Nations estimates it will increase to 11.2 billion in the year 2100.[1] The Population Reference Bureau has estimated that more than 107 billion have lived since humans evolved.[2][3]

World population has experienced continuous growth since the end of the Great Famine of 1315–1317 and the Black Death in 1350, when it was near 370 million.[4] The highest population growth rates – global population increases above 1.8% per year – occurred briefly during the 1950s, and for longer during the 1960s and 1970s. The global growth rate peaked at 2.2% in 1963, and has declined to 1.1% as of 2012.[5] Total annual births were highest in the late 1980s at about 139 million,[6] and are now expected to remain essentially constant at their 2011 level of 135 million,[7] while deaths number 56 million per year and are expected to increase to 80 million per year by 2040.[8] World population reached 7 billion on October 31, 2011 according to the United Nations Population Fund,[9][10][11] and on March 12, 2012 according to the United States Census Bureau.[12]

The median age of the world's population was estimated to be 29.9 years in 2015

Fuck the gates. Therefore, gatekeepers suck. There are no gates worth upholding. If you define yourself as a gatekeeper, you suck. THIS is the way it is. NEVER appear to be keeping a gate, lest you suck more deeply than the gate. You gate, you.

Most of my problems with 'authority' are not at all irrational.

They want me to conform to their irrational rules.

I am a free person.

I was driving down my road last week. I was under the 25 mph speed limit, which is unusual, but there were slower vehicles ahead of me. A cop driving in the opposite direction put on his lights, did a U-turn in the middle of a busy intersection where at least two lanes had green lights and passed three cars behind me on a narrow road, making cars pull over in both directions. I pulled over too, thinking he was headed to an emergency.

He wasn't.... he blocked my lane, making car after car pull out into oncoming traffic to go by as he asked me a bunch of questions the answers to which were on my license, registration, insurance certificate and emissions test results (all current).

The crime that justified all of his fuss on a Sunday morning?

Not wearing my seatbelt on a stretch of road that I often travel as fast or faster on my bicycle (also without a seatbelt, no helmet and - GASP! - no spandex).

Some guys are just tools and when they play authority on me, I resist.

Had he been on his way to an emergency (i.e. to actually HELP someone), I would not have felt my time wasted and the risk to the rest of us justified. But shilling for the insurance companies (the major proponents for mandatory no-fault insurance laws and seatbelt laws) is not a rational use of state or local power.

And endangering at least thirty vehicles to 'warn' one motorist is not a rational use of 'man'power.

I've got a million of these examples. Don't get me started.

Glenn

People everywhere suck. Thats why! People are selfish, ruthless and careless. If not for authority figures, people would do the most heinous of things. Thats because they only think about themselves and what they want to do. So, here comes someone telling you no, you can't do that and you wind up having a Temper tantrum about it. Thats all it is. People do not like being told what they cannot do.

Yes, but. You can't be you. You can't flick fleas if we tell you not to. You can't not be no yeaher if we prohibit yeahin. You can't. Just because. Not because there's anything wrong with it, but just because we say you can't because we are WE and you aren't.

There's the rub.

Dan, no need.

He's doing a great job of fucking himself.

He's brand new in a small town and he's already pissed off a lot of people.

We used to elect constables around here. Now someone hires them. Constables are "keepers of the peace." Police are officers of the law. Big difference.

Simply another episode of Pathetico - a small town cop with a big town taste for action. I should've pitched that tv show a long time ago.
