Idea for a Show I'd Like to Share
I promoted a show last weekend. Got a room ($448). Bought the booze (about $600). Lined up the other two acts and gave 'em each 40 tickets to sell for $10 each and said they could keep the money. Figuring they would all come and drink my booze which is where I would make my investment back. Worked out pretty good. Made enough to make me think about doing it again.

I just thought of an idea for doing a show where you would have half a dozen acts each do a 20 minute set exclusively of OTHER local acts' songs. Besides being musically fun, and an exercise in community building it MIGHT generate a decent sized audience. Which is always the challenge.

The local acts would come out (with their friends) to see how their songs were being interpreted. The friends of the acts doing the covers would come out (hopefully) to see how their performing buddies were doing the new tunes they've had to learn. And I would be selling beer (and performing a set of tunes that I like) to all who show up.

Putting it out there in case anyone else likes the idea and wants to do something similar.

I love that Idea. I do something similar up here in NH. It's called the Live Studio Audience show- it's on FB here: http://on.fb.me/fXjJMy
