What This is Site is About, Part One
We’re songwriters. We want our music to connect with people. Over the years, this site has helped me with this part of the creative process (ie. being heard).

So I get this email from Scott the other day:

We at IndieMusicPeople.com just wanted to let you know that your song, Bring Me Some Whiskey has been added to James Laurent/Restless Spirit Station here at IMP.

The Station posted this commentary about your song:
Yes Great Blues!!!

A small thrill to my day. As you know, songwriting is often a lonely process. With lots of doubts and second guessing. Am I right? So getting a message like this is validating.

There are other reasons why I keep coming back to IMP but this is a big part of it. Being validated.

Thanks James. Thanks Scott. And all the rest of the station managers and blog posters who are generous with their time and comments.

I think the emails we are receiving now when our songs get added is a brilliant idea, another innovation of IMP and kudos to your success John and upcoming tour to Holland. good luck

cheers and best wishes to you and all the supporters of IMP

Yes I so agree. The emails are wonderful. You put that the exact right way, John - it is absolutely validating. Otherwise you upload tunes and never know a thing about who - if anyone - hears them. Other sites have stats and you can count hits, but it's nothing like being recognized as a musician with stations and comments.

If you have a tagboard on your page the tagboard gets updated when a station adds a song to the station.
The email is a nice touch
Thanks Scott,

To me, American Lesley Jane,
and my band, BEATLESEX,

What This Site Is About Is The MUSIC.

WHERE THE MUSIC STILL LIVES:
Indie Music People Dot Com

Not the crap they package out there in so called 'mainstream',
but Real Good Excellent Music like you just can't find anywhere else
but here now.

That, is what we're about here.

And that, is why we're glad to be here.
I'm American Lesley Jane, Leader of BEATLESEX,
and I approved this message.

Right. That’s part two of what this site is about. Finding great music from other indie acts.
Once we get past the old notion that success and talent is only measured by how “famous” you are, there’s a whole world of music waiting to be heard.

Good subjects john, and great to see you working the pipeline so much good music here, and indie is a big part of my life for 15 years now, promoting and sussing out talent here and promoting those whom I work with, one such person is john pippus,
I am proud to have worked with such a talent as he is, terrific songcrafter and just a real good guy, if you have a chance, check his great material out. john has been very successful in terrestrial radio land for many years, I think it was 6 years ago i first started working with him. September of 2010 was the year if I recall, in the fall of that year

I was going to say, the first group i put up here was the blue voodoo, after they were contacted probably by Scott, not sure exactly, but my Brother Ted asked me to get their music up here maybe 2004 anyways I have been involved here since and that is quite a long time ago. then summer and the sinners and Joe Stanton and many more after that. not sure how many people and bands I have pitched to radio over the years, but it is a lot.

Cheers to all you wonderful amazing hard working musicians, and cheers to my friend John, continued success

John-You're excitement at getting a review of one of your songs is exactly the vway i feel when i get one too

If there was one thing which woulds definitely draw more people/traffic here, its alot more active station managers WHO GIVE REVIEWS of the tracks they add -however brief..

As far as i know, there's only really Bryon who really does this regularly..Scott does some,I do some and Steve April does..The occasional review add from a couple of others..and err thats basically it..

Just wish there were more people who did it tho..Its def the easiest way to get this site more traffic..Its not difficult setting up a station-saying a sentence or 2 about why you dig the song - and it means so much to the artists who receive them..

Song adds, station building and developing a playlist and making ones stations unique

On occasion there is a flurry of activity Steve, and yes, when someone adds a song or two to their station, it is exciting, because ,well someone is actually taking the time to listen and enjoy what you have done, some of us will be more inclined to do some thoughtful reviews carefully suggesting areas that need improving, but overall i like to listen for the sake of listening, and for the love of music. I wont allow myself to be too critical, although a few times i have, most of all, i like to listen to a lot of music here, which makes me think of the various levels we are at and the abilities and talents many have been gifted with and worked at growing them in to latent incredible songwriters

song writing and lyric writing is something that is a craft, and experience in songcrafting takes time, developing it. But that is what it is all about, growing little by little and learning how to produce, some have a huge headstart in that aspect. for me, i start late and only in the last number of years got going in that end. So still a newbie and learning how to do what I can. I know my area of expertise is piano instrumentals, but am trying to do more outside of that, so in that learning curve, takes a lot of time to scale up the ladder of production and understanding how to put all the pieces together.

But my passion here is namely supporting others, listening loving the whole experience. learn so much from listening ,and admiring how awesome you all are in your craft

cheers and hope for more station managers to participate and grow the most important part of IMPNATIONS best kept secret , building a station and caring for it, and building people up and inspiring them onward to improve their craft, maybe one day, we will see a boost and upward trend in this vital part of the indiemusicpeople scene. Those willing to jump onboard and listen review and get involved as a station master
