Now that's what I'm talkin' about!
Most studios don't have an acoustic piano, but I just tuned for one that has a beautiful one. Check out this Petrof 7-foot grand! This thing had a tone like silk and an action that was incredible to play.

Check it out (image will open in new window)

Isn't it beautiful? You should have heard the sound that came out of that thing. Rich, deep bass and a treble that just sang. Tuned up really nice too.

It even looks like it would sound that way!!!

I am a real sucker for a good acoustic piano. No sampled piano has come close to being able to reproduce the emotion and feel of playing even a basic acoustic.
There's just something magical about playing one. Something that takes you away to that special place that transcends the physical space you are in.

You are exactly right. I used to wonder why digitals couldn't completely capture it, and then I figured it out. An acoustic piano has roughtly 230 strings. Many of them vibrate sympathetically when other notes are played, adding harmonics and overtones. That's something you just can't reproduce digitally!
