An evening with Acoustic Son
I ordered the tickets on line as soon as I found out Acoustic Son was going to play, almost a month in advance. It was a quaint little place for a dinner show called Angelicas Bistro. As we arrived, the band was doing their sound checks and dialing in all the little things. It only took a few bars of one song to nail everything down, but I knew right away the 70 miles I drove to get there was well worth the trip. Believe me everybody, Acoustic Son had their “A” game going.
With meaningful lyrics set in between well designed chord progressions, every song carried you away. Ken and Carolyn’s vocal harmonies flowed like honey. With drums, bass, and percussion solid as a rock, Ricks lead riffs and solos, made the experience all the more enjoyable. The band as a whole was truly professional with top notch dynamics. The new CD material (Cross The Line) was well received by everyone there. Even a few Motown hits were tossed in the set for fun. With a relaxed atmosphere, and good friends around us, it was a fantastic evening with a very, very, good band that is a Must See Live!
As a musician myself, I see a lot of bands play. You can tell when you hear a Great one. Acoustic Son is one of those bands. Would I drive another 70 miles to see them again? You Bet I would………….
