horror storyin 2009!!!
this happened here in New Zealand yesterday-
WOMAN MAULED BY EIGHT DOGS
The husband of the 36-year-old woman who was mauled by eight pig dogs in the Waikato said she looked like a "big blob of blood" after the attack.
Mother-of-two Margit Christensen was set upon as she jogged along a rural road in Arapuni, 37km east of Te Awamutu, about 1pm yesterday.
Her husband, Sven Christensen, said a German friend was unicycling up ahead when she heard Mrs Christensen screaming as three dogs attacked her.
"She was screaming with three dogs on her, trying to kick them off when another five or so dogs came flying across and she fell to the ground."
The friend alerted a neighbour to the attack and called Mr Christensen, who got to the scene before medical help arrived.
"By the time I got there the dogs were off ... Margit was basically just sitting, she looked like a big blob of blood on the side of the road," he said.
"Everyone could see how bad it was."
Mr Christensen said he knew the owner of the dogs personally and that she had helped get the dogs off his wife.
"She kept whacking them with sticks and they kept trying to come back and come back, and then she managed get them off."
He said he had heard neighbours saying children in the area were always scared of the dogs coming out.
"People have got to get a bit more brainy with their dogs ... no knowledge, no training, no boundaries and no BRAINS

That is a horrible tragedy. What is a "pig dog?" Is that some kind of breed?
In Canada, if a dog attacks someone, or even another dog and does harm, the owner of the dog is liable and charged accordingly. And they should be.

Yep they were Pitt bull Xs-----they have ALL been shot and the (female?) owner faces charges and possible jail !
Pig hunting (wild boars) is a popular pastime here-----we even wrote a song about it!
The victim was operated on for 9 hours-----with more skin grafts needed over several months----no part of her body was left unscathed!
These dogs were already known as dangerous!!!

Pitbulls are banned here, but ......... the pet trade has a lot to answer for....... :(

D T----I agree----most "Pig Hunters" keep their pack of dogs locked in cages, only allowed out for the hunt
-it is not surprising then that when they are on the loose they are a danger to everyone----occasionally they even turn on their owners---

That is horrible. The owners belong in jail. They made their dogs that way. It makes sense that if you keep your dog in a cage all day that it's going to go beserk when it finally gets out. What a shame. :-(

I wouldn't usually post such a grim tale-----but as an animal advocate I can't believe that in the year 2009 we are still soo ignorant and blase ---our big mutt Temba wouldn't hurt a flea-
----and he's part of the family except when he farts in the car!!!!

Yes my dogs are my cherished family members and it really upsets me to hear things like this. Pit bulls are banned from Ontario. It's against the law to breed them. For anyone who already owns one, the pitbull has to be, neutered/spayed, leashed and muzzled or the owner is charged. Just a few mos ago, an unleashed, unmuzzled pitbull attacked a little dog and killed it. The owner is facing jail and should be as far as I am concerned. In Ontario, a pit bull is anything that looks similar to a pitbull; even if it's not. That is kind of a weird law but apparently they created the law that way because people were lying about the breed of their dog. I am an animal activist and I love all animals but I would never want a dog that had a genetic history of aggressive temperment. I'd be a nervous wreck worrying about other little dogs, people and children.
