...right-on! Steve. Seems most of us enjoy our existence in "la la" land no matter how much dishonesty or lack of clarity it takes to get us there... just leave us alone! let us sleep! all is good! everything is right with the world! ...or so it "seems"! and as long as it "seems" to be "thus" that is sufficient! ...todays generation inkokes "Little Red Riding Hood" in order to assimilate The Big Bad Wolf. In the past "The Three Little Pigs" was more useful. Thanks for posting! -M-

Father Time

1/20/2017 6:19:01 PM ---- Updated 1/20/2017 6:21:26 PM

You guys are kidding, right?

I wasn't impressed at all. The whole thing was shallow, and used the device of interspersing generalized clips of Obama to fool people like yourselves into believing what he was saying meant anything at all.

His critique of Obama reminded me of the kind of critique anyone's song gets in a home recording forum with know-it-all producers. They have a field day drubbing cymbal sounds and whatever comes into their mind because it's remarkably easy taking pot shots with no actual reference point. They often miss the songwriting altogether.

One thing casual political observers never seem to understand is that the president alone can't change anything, for that to happen, bills must pass thru Congress. To claim that Obama was somehow empowered to change the percentage of our GNP that goes to the rich is naive beyond belief. Do a little research into the amount of obstruction Obama faced by Mitch McConnell and co. It is a fact that on Jan 20th, 2009, conservatives had a big meeting and strategized on how they would vote no on every single thing proposed by Obama. "we can’t let you succeed in anything. That’s our ticket to coming back"

Even with that, Obama leaves with a huge batch of accomplishments. Brand can brush them all off but it is a fact that Obama came into office with our country losing 8 million jobs a month, such was the Bush recession. Left with 64 straight months of private sector job growth. That's a fact, jack.

If you just limit his accomplishments to the civil rights arena, he's still the best president in our lifetime.

Brand mentions again and again that Wall St. got away with that crap under Bush. Though he doesn't say under Bush. Fact is, under Obama Dodd-Frank was passed, which gave us great things like the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. However the right wing fought every aspect of Dodd-Frank so they couldn't really carry out most of its aspects. Meanwhile, Trump has done the opposite of what he promised (draining the swamp) and hired a whole bunch of Goldman Sachs folks for his cabinet. and a head of Exxon as Secretary of State! Does anybody in their right mind actually think the rich aren't going to get a lot richer now?

and what about picking a known racist to be Attorney General, and a guy who thinks climate change is a hoax and is an oil ally to head the Environmental Protection Agency?

Trump has no moral principles, nor does the former head of Exxon. Brand is no more qualified to be a political commentator than Trump is to be the most powerful man in the world.

But this is basically just words and semantics, believe me, you'll know in a few years what many of us know now about Trump.

Mr. Ison, you totally fell for the anti-intellectualism twist. This is the same way Hillary Clinton lost the election, victim of an anything goes hatchet job which is what your hero Brand did. Talking about hope is the same thing as talking about making America great again. If you put Trump under the same magnifying glass he comes out as somebody who belongs behind bars for life. Why does the wild ranter even title his piece including Trump in the title because it was 8 minutes out of 8:57 an attack on Obama who because he is smart and sounds nice must surely be a worse leader than somebody with no qualifications who goes around saying he knows more about ISIS than the generals.
