Is such a brilliant track..
I went away this weekend to Stratford and had the tune in my head all the way on the coach..It felt really blue sky free..
'Who's to say Howwwwww lonely,lonely,lonely'...So much natural space and magic..

Sub real trumpets and it'd be totally perfect..

Wow.
That's cool. I would like to do real horns with it.
I'd like to do the whole thing with real instruments.
It's nice people are listening to that song...I did that on a Tascam four track cassette about ten years ago.

I love the tune as well Bob, if you get a real horn player it would take it over the top. We make do with what we have, the idea is firmly planted and that is a good thing. In a band long ago, we hired a sax player to come in to lay down a track. A real professional who listened to the tune a couple times, then nailed it when the tape was rolling. Have you looked into a session player? I don't think it would be too expensive, especially in today's economy.

I'm only listening thru computer speakers but it sounds so frikkin' good
I love everything about it other than the synth trumpet.
Tho i guess if its 4 track that brass is bounced down loads lol and can't be simply replaced with the real thing :(

Steve, I wouldn't have figured you'd be a snob in regards to real trumpets. Music is music, listeners who aren't artists or producers don't demand such contrived authenticity. Reminds me of the critique I once got from somebody who told me my hi-hats were on the wrong side of the stereo mix. I mean isn't this really a case of being able to say real brass was used ? I've heard that song 100 times and I never thought to myself damn that synth trumpet. :)
Me I prefer authentic synth sounds. haha And if they ain't Yamaha fake strings, they ain't real !

Well it sounds like Bob would've rather had real trumpets too!
Its not 'contrived authenticity' FT- real trumpets really do sound better than fake ones(unsuprisingly)
You don't have to have a PHD in anal tech-head to hear the difference..Its obvious
Real strings sound better too imo-but i don't mind synth ones,they work ok-I've used them loads too..
I think synth brass reminds me too much of nasty 80s music where they were 'cutting edge' and used on frikkin' everything..
Its a credit to the track and song being so good that its just a minor thing tho..

The beauty of this song to me is the way the different sounds and textures lay down together and co-exist so happily despite their differences. It's like a hand-picked bunch of exotic flowers or a selection of home made chocolates with soft tantalising centres
The close harmonies and the earthy vocal tones are a treat. - Jilly
