Some people will disagree.
Hello dear readers

I have been checking out the posts here for about 2 months now and I have noticed that some people (I won't mention names) like to argue just for the sake of arguing.
Now don't get me wrong I really enjoy reading the to and fro of the threads, especially when both sides are passionate and believe what they are saying is right, but I believe some members of our glorious community here are, what we call here in Oz Shit stirrers, so as an experiment I would like to make this bold statement.

The sky is blue.

......3......2......1......

Cheers Mark

Of course it is. If it were green, we wouldn't know where to stop mowing. I do know what you mean, though. I tend to leave the political discussions to folks who still believe that 'the people' actually decide the presidency. In fact (if you consider how 'celebrity conscious' Americans are), if 'the people' really decided things- George Clooney would be prez.

You're right Steve, let the musicians play music and the politicians play politics....what you say isn;t too outrageous though, isn't Arnold "the Terminator" a govener or something over there? President Clooney...hmmm has a certain ring to it.

And don't forget Ronny Raygun. The best movie work he ever did was "Bonzo Goes to College" (and the monkey stole the picture).

"but I believe some members of our glorious community here are, what we call here in Oz Shit stirrers"

It;s not to hard to figure out who ya'll are talking bout. :) I am one of them.......I don't start the threads, I just respond. If you feel I am one of the shit stirrers I apologize.
I do have music On my Page...I am here for the music...I am a writer/Artist., but when I see crap I disagree with I will not sit idly by. If I am offending anyone, or bringing this great site a negative vibe I will stop. Just let me know, send me a private message...or post it here. Musicians can have strong political views, don't ya think?? Sorry if I have brought the room down. :) Turn the Music back up!!!

Jeff

Don't be so defensive. In fact, everyone's entitled to their opinion. Whether people agree or not. I think that one of the great things about a truly democratic society (or website) is that everyone's opinion is valued and subject to the views of the community. Just relax. It's only politics- about the same worth as a sports competition.

There is only one political truth worth mentioning - all the rest is personal preference - and that truth is that it doesn't matter who you vote for, the government always gets in!

When I first came onto the blog topics here I made the 'mistake' of saying what I really thought about Bush and Bin Laden and then there was much flaming!! I'm glad I stuck with it and I sincerely do respect the views of others and am always willing to learn and change my own. Much Respect to Larree whether some of our views are different or not.

One of my native friends says I have much Coyote in me - A tendency to be a trickster and enjoy it! I like to challenge other views sometimes to see if the other person is open to seeing things differently or to encourage objectivity. My challenges are often interpreted as my own views but aren't necessarily.

As long as no-one starts talking to me about my beloved Vee-Dubs, I'm principally here for the music!

There's a Japanese saying which goes something like: "Matters of great importance should be treated lightly" (as if very unimportant!).

I was just being what we in Oz call a sh*t stirrer. People with differing opinions are cool - it's apathy that's the problem.
That bus is COOL - I'd never heard of it before!

I'm glad you mentioned that you "really enjoy reading the to and fro" Mark because I think many of us 'on the sidelines' should be most grateful to the special few who are prepared to put their head on the line in the name of lively debate.
And don't you think it's great to have such quality contributors amongst us - I believe there is basically a respect between them all because decorum is usually maintained and often a little jovial banter ensues.
If I have any views on anything important I'd love to take part but unfortunately I'm one of those maliable people who can actually be persuaded that the sky is yellow by one person and purple by another.

FACT: The sky is only blue sometimes. Most times, it's blue and white. Other times it's grey and dark. It's been red and orange too! Even Pink! Lets get our facts straight here! deb

Well, it all depends on how you define your terms, and what you're calling "the sky". If you look up, you're looking at a mass of mostly colorless gasses which is juxtaposed between you and the mostly blackness of outer space. That mass of colorless gasses often looks blue because sunlight (which is actually sort of yellowish) is scattered by this mass of gassess and what ends up getting to your eye is mostly the blue part of the sunlight. So, if you're defining "sky" as the scattered sunlight reaching your retina, yes, it's kind of bluish. Except of course, as has been mentioned, when it's low on the horizon and looks reddish by passing through water vapor or dust. And that's only during the daytime. At night, it's black, like outer space, which just goes to show you you're actually talking about sunlight when you say it's blue, not about what the color of that thing you're actually looking at when you look up and call it the sky.

haha

By the way, this:

Larree

2/23/2008 1:38:59 AM

How do I know that the blue you see is not actually green or red to me? Do we all really see the same color when we look at a color? Maybe we all call it the same thing, but it could be completely different from what everyone else sees. :D
***********************

is completely and utterly wrong, and I don't see how any reasonable person could think such a thing. As long as we're all agreeing that a color is "blue" it doesn't matter how we subjectively perceive it. Whether your brain sees a color as red when another person's sees it as blue, as long as you're both calling it blue, it doesn't matter how you internally perceive it. It's blue.

It's just ridiculous to argue differently, and any person who doesn't see that must not have all his faculties. Wrong, wrong, wrong! I think anyone who sees it any other way should have a tactical nuke implanted in his or her scrotum.

Insane.

Juuuust a little over the top there LD.....Please leave a man's scrotum out of it, Geez... Insane Man!! I think Brother Laree was trying to make a point obout opinions and how people see the world.

What color Blue? sometimes its purple,...sometimes its Grey, sometimes its black...some love the morning sky, some love the sky at sunset, twilight, each has a different hue.....some look forward to a new day without reflecting on the day just ended....some never see the sky, some have 9 month winters, some are blind, some have weak cones of the eye, some have chemical imbalances, some are simply whacked! Some may not have a scrotum in which to implant a tactical nuke... Its all a matter of perspective. Wrong, wrong wrong...Right Right Right! Wrong, Right...Left...
