Life After a Band ...
After 6 fulfilling years, Randal and had to make the tough decision to kill our band Wildfire. As many of you know We were going through some pretty tough times, and the decision was made that Randal would go back on the road, which, I guess is a good thing, We have sorted out our difficulties.
Anyway, on with the subject, Life after the band is different, I have a lot more time for my kids which they are loving, They both tell me constantly how much they love having more time with me .. so this is a plus ..
I guess the biggest downside is that all the friends you are used to having around you, seem to disapear when you are no longer the umm celebrity(of sorts) Randal and I had so many friends we couldn't keep up with them all, now we know who our true friends are and they are not many .. heh ..
It is hard to deprogram yourself from that mindset, I still find myself hearing a song that I would like to do and immediately coming to the computer to get the download so I can learn it .. ha ha ha ..
But, if I am honest, I was burnt out and way over worked, so it was a good thing ..I didn't even have time for my first love which is Independent Music ...
My biggest regret is not pushing to do more original stuff while we had a band, you tend to get lax when you have all this easily accessed music. As well as the problem of getting the musicians to learn the material you wrote.. We have decided that if we go back to a band, it will be Original, and the musicians we hire will be on the same page from the get go ... no more covers for this Couple.
