the cesspool of decay, the coming of a new day

hearts will break, lives will fall, a hand will reach out of the ocean and someone will try to catch it, coming up empty, it was a mirage, a myth.

hope dies hard but someone believes, the one you see out in the rain without a raincoat, without an umbrella, without even a bonnet on. her silhouette walks briskly in the darkness and a big black car pulls up along side her, hoping it's a prostitute who is willing to give it all up for a dry ride home.

another man sits in his recliner looking out a big picture window at a view always illuminated by a neon sign that says BEVERAGES but he's not thirsty. he thinks he knows something no one else in the universe knows. but the question isn't whether or not he's on the right track, but whether or not anyone else will ever know with him.

teenage kid looking at a little screen thinks he has a handle on his world, but when he finally gets to sleep, a spider crawls up his leg and bites him, he mistakenly thinks it's just a nervous twitch but he ain't that lucky. he wonders when his mom is going to come home. he can't sleep. he screws off the lid of the bottle of cheap sangria in the fridge and pours himself a half a glass, savoring every sip like it's a last breath in a legendary life but he hasn't even had his first kiss.

the man in his recliner thinks deeply.. about moments frozen in time when he had most of his life ahead of him and was too naive to even consider cherishing great things that landed on his lap. been so long now he perks up like the lighting of a match when a song from those times comes on the radio. didn't know how to live when he could've lived. can't live other than to remember when he should have.

the rained on woman refuses the ride, the walk home is cleansing but she's never gonna quite get there by the time this tale comes to an end. like other folks you know too well.

Hmm, very creative but rather too cryptic for me and I couldn't really identify with the characters .... maybe the start of a novel?

Yeah, I liked this too - the characters are really vivid - I could see then in my mind - seems like real life for sure
