Yes, they're pretty.
But part of me is sadly reminded of war - bombs bursting in air, as the U.S. national anthem goes. With fireworks, we are commemorating our independence, and that's a good thing. But our revolution was so long ago that we forget that it was a bloody war with all the killing and atrocity that accompanies such action. I feel like fireworks are a glorification of war. At least we aren't seeing the real thing. Are any recent veterans out there feeling a little afraid of fireworks? I think I might be.
But yeah, they're pretty. Didn't mean to rain on your parade.
