All purpose NFL and college Football thread
So who is your team? What are your hopes for this year?
Any Super Bowl or National Championship predictions?
I believe my team, the Philadelphia Eagles, is going to make the playoffs but they're about a year away from having a chance to go all the way.

Igglez did a good job drafting Wentz imo. NFC East looks like rough sledding.
My Green Bay team underperforms if they don't win it all.
Crossed fingers hoping we get out of the pre-season without losing key people. Again,

Alas, my team, the 49ers are in a rebuilding year. Probably won't make the playoffs but will do better than last year when they stunk up the brand new stadium with terrible losses. Uh, Go 9ers? Well, I am hopeful.

well at least they didn't give Chip Kelly the chance to trade their best players like he did with the Eagles. That Shady McCoy trade was so stupid.

As we do not have an NFL team in Nebraska, I reckon I'll start the college football segment here. Naturally my team is my beloved Cornhuskers. Some now just call them Huskers as they thing that Corn is too corny. Don't give a $hit what they think; we are largely an agricultural state. The largest cities here are Omaha, my city, and Lincoln, the state capital and home of the University of Nebraska. The 3rd largest city is Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, when the Cornhuskers play a home game with 90,000 of their closest friends.
My dad shared them with me in 1962 when I was 11 years old and it was Bob Devaney's first year. The glory years extended through 1997 when Bob's successor Tom Osborn retired. The two coaches produced our 5 national championships; 1970, 71, 94, 95, and 97. The 62-3 record of T.O. in his last 65 games is probably the greatest in NCAA history. The only run even coming close is the current one of Alabama, and maybe Florida State also in the 90's.
But alas, the Cornhuskers have not even won a conference championship since the Big XII back in 1999. Before that they were in the Big 8 which was Nebraska and the Oklahoma Sooners and the 6 Dwarfs. When the Southwest Conference folded, the Big 8 adopted the 4 most successful Texas teams and expanded to 12 teams.
About 5 or so years ago, NU got tired of the Texas Longhorns, who became the bully in the boardroom. We left and joined the B1G X, which is now 14 teams, divided into the West and East Divisions. With Wisconsin also in the West with us, and Ohio State, Michigan, and Penn State in the East, it will be harder than ever to again win a conference title, much less a national title. Even so, the conference move was a good one for N.U. and us fans.
After Devaney and Osborne, our head coach was Frank Solich, now at Ohio. He was succeeded by two coaches who sucked rotten eggs and I and most all of Husker Nation hate with a passion. We got a new athletic director who hired Mike Riley out of Oregon State. Mike's 3rd season begins in 2 weeks from today. He finally has QB's that fit his system; 3 kids who are 6'4" or so, NFL style guys that can fling the ball all over the yard. Can't wait; hope springs eternal here in Nebraska; The Good Life!" Season begins just 2 weeks from today!
P.S. For the National Championship it is really hard to bet against Alabama or Ohio State. (frowny face) :-(

The Eagles offense looked dead against the Bills but the defense seems improved.
Alabama is like a pro team, they will surely win again.

Well, Clemson did mange to beat the Tide last year, but I agree. 'Bama just reloads with 4 and 5-star recruits every year. It is really difficult to stop the momentum of a freight train rolling downhill.

It's under Draft on the black bar. Special note, this year's drafting mechanism I found out yesterday does not show the preranks that I can tell so after you put them in there write em down.
