no, that is a state of mind FT, I dont look at a persons death as terrible times sure Tom petty was an Icon, but we all die, now as for the mass shooting yah, that is terrible, but this type of thing has been going on since man set foot on this earth, wars, slayings ,horrible atrocities, but we cant dwell on this stuff, it will make you go mad trying to figure out the why's and the wherefores.
we have to look beyond this type of thing, to the future, what we can do in our own lives to make this world a better place.
Me I just put together my next list of songs I am going to be doing for my 2018 album, as well i have a few singles coming out.
But I dont dwell on this world crap ,we have an awful crisis with the fentanyl situation, we have a horrific criminal element in our city with money laundering, the homeless issue here is critical, sure it is awful, sad and unfathomable why it all happens ,all we can do is move forward with our own lives doing the best we can. yes, terrible times I agree, but for me, I aint gonna make it stop from accomplishing more then i have in my life right now, then ever before. I still teach and share my amazings skills, I still do a bit of promotions for artists and I have an amazing family.
People die, wars happen , we can never ever wrap our head around it, me, I go, accept adjust and adapt,. I just move on to the right now and the future, not the past

When 58 people die from a shooting at a country music concert and Tom Petty has a heart attack the next day, these are terrible times.

I did say it was terrible, and agree, but I aint going to have it deter me from pushing on, not let it affect me and shaking my core belief system just because something like this happened, horrible yes for those families affected, for those Canadians killed one from our area and a few Canucks with serious bullet wounds recovering in hospital. traumatic.
.I aint going to dwell on it, certainly we must think on what occurred. Lets face it, this was the 300th plus mass shooting in the US this year, anything with 4 or more killed or injured is considered a mass shooting, perhaps I am desensitized ,dont think so though it is downright unbelievable but not surprising with the attitude that is prevalent in the US and the gun culture stateside. Now saying that, we have had our own mass shootings in Canada, so we are not exempt from this type of thing.
As for Tom Petty, yes, of course a big loss to the music community, just shows us our time is just around the corner, our runway gets shorter everyday , I am being a fatalist here, who knows when our calling is next, hows that for my point of view

An Instagram account that has been attributed to Tom Petty’s daughter Annakim Violette said Monday that the artist is not dead, and slammed reports that said otherwise.
"@rollingstone my dad is not dead yet but your fucking magazine is ??????your slime?? has been pieces of tabloid dog shit. You put the worst artists on your covers do zero research. How dare you report that my father has died just to get press because your articles and photos are so dated. I will fucking shit down your throat and your family's . Try not being a trump vibe. This is my father not a celebrity. An artist and human being. Fuck u "

Tom Petty was and is a major influence on my music, especially the Americana stuff. "Free Fallin' " is my all time favorite song of his and his work with the Travelin' Wilburys was so magical and creative. I loved his raspy voice and his honest vocal delivery. As a song writer he's up there with the greats. He did his best to keep the 60's sound alive and still stay current. He will be missed but his music and his influence will live on.

I'll miss Tom Petty, like Dylan said in his comment, he was "full of light," and with a voice that could cut to the quick, in a ragged way (like "Refugee"), or be sultry and summoning (like "Free Fallin"), or bold and fun-filled (like "Runnin' Down a Dream" name a few.) "Last Dance With Mary Jane," awesome.
A few of my favs, anyway.
Adventurous, poetic, luminous, memorable songs, RIP Tom.
Rawk on...may the spirit of Music be in your company now...
