Whether or not Whitherward wins "Best Band", or for "The Anchor" in the category of...
"Folk / Acoustic Rock / Americana", the big win for me (and I think and hope for them too) is that we have become beloved personal friends in such a short period of time.

I found them here at IMP in May because Christomir (Itso's Earworms) put a couple of their songs in his station and I followed his lead. Their songs here grew to 7, and I added them all. Ashley Norton then sent Itso and both friend requests in Facebook (which blew us both away) and we began dialogues that became friendship relationships.

(BTW, Itso my friend; thanks so much for nominating me for "Station Manager of the Year" for "Groovy Music Monsters." The fact that it made the ballot is a huge honor! With "heavy hitters" like Bryon, Evie, and Verity there, I am a huge underdog. Nevertheless, David did slay Goliath, eh? LOL!)

I was especially blessed when Whitherward came to Omaha less than 3 months ago. I was able to spend 10 glorious hours with Ashley and her duo partner Edward Williams, one of the coolest and most talented gentlemen I have ever met. Whitherward and I (I recently sent Ed a friend request and he accepted) now talk in Facebook several times a week. They are coming back to Omaha to again play the Harney Street Tavern on April 6th and I am sending them leads for a bigger venue on April 7th. I can hardly wait!

These two categories are very competitive and two of my other featured artists, Richard Scotti and Francesca Tamellini are also in that particular song category. I've nominated Richard for Best Male Artist and Francesca for Best Female Artist and they both made the ballot. I also nominated my other featured artists in song categories; Monicka Ferens, David Nyro, and Bryon Tosoff and they are also on the ballot.

Good luck to all my artists and all others in the voting! Everyone who wins a Golden Kayak is more than deserving. To me, these are bigger winners with way better talent than what we see on network TV. But everyone here in Indieland already knows that, so I am preaching to the choir here, eh?

WWMM Michael (which means WhitherWard Music Monster Michael)

You are welcome, Mike (for the nomination) - you deserve it with your enthusiasm and the amount of work you put in (thoughtful song blurbs, etc.)

And thanks for mentioning me as the one that introduced you to WW - glad to help. :)

@ Michael, you a huge underdog, nope, dont see that at all,me and others heavy hitters, nope not in any way whatsoever. I see you as an important cog in the wheel here at IMP, a vital and special person who sacrifices a lot of time to make your station(s) special

As station managers we all provide an important service in what we do. being a Station manager is an honorable and important aspect and critical part to IMP, as I mentioned to Norm from Desperado Revue. all of us bring something special in our own way, we all have different tastes and we all give a lot of our time listening to music and ultimately provide a significant critical element to IMP as station managers

Not everyone here wants to be doing this station manager thing, many prefer to be listeners, or some as artists musicians, and a few a combo of the two. And some immerse themselves as enthusiastic and dedicated station managers. as you do

I think things have improved considerably over the last few years with Scott's guidance dedication and commitment to IMP, and we all do our best to make it is what it is today. I can tell you, there were times when very few station managers pitched in, and that part of it floundered ,well for years actually.

Now we can see the evidence of change, a kind of springboard to a better future for IMP as more people come here, more and more I see significant change as IMP grows and man become interested in being station managers and listeners, Those people are the backbone of this site ,So as a station manager I am not a heavy hitter, or a competitor, I am just a guy who loves listening to music and do reviews , because I love music and love the artists here who make wonderful works.

We are all in this as a team, working together to make this place a better place, a welcoming place and a place to call home

cheers to all

Ha ha Bryon; I usually mean what I say, and say what I mean! I appreciate you, and what you say in both words and music.

I agree we are a team and I like it that way best. I am a tad competitive by nature (a lover of my sports team, for example) but the "competition" here is good natured and "tongue-in-cheek."

I have a really good buddy here and wanted to nominate him for Station Manager of the Year, but he declined because he does not want to draw much attention to himself that way. As you indicated to Normand (see my new post to him) we all bring something special in our own unique ways.

Having said this; guys like you and Scott are still The Masters and I am a Grasshopper! ;-)

Whoever wins any and all Golden Kayaks I shall congratulate and deem them worthy. That is the way I was raised by my father as a Nebraska Cornhusker! We will tackle you to the turf and then give you our hand to pull you back up.
