Windows 10 & Protools
So I recently upgraded my computer to windows 10 from 8.1
I just bought the new Protools 12.2 which come to find out isn't compatable with my AVID mini interface (marketing "go figure").So of course I go and get a Scarlette 2i2 interface.
All of these items now have iLok to hold back "pirating"which is a nightmare pain in the Ass to try and load for the actual purchaser.
I'm not to sufficient at PT yet. So far I can get music through my monitors plugging direct into the interface, but the PT program isn't recognizing anything on the track for recording. I can get a signal for the slider volume though.
In the set up screen, I have problems with the I/O for the track.
Do I need a windows 10 patch or just a Protools book for Dummies?

Oh man, the learning curve is steep on DAW software.
I have the scarlet 2i2 for a backup and i haven't had any problems with it communicating with my MacBook
Good luck. Once you get it going, you have an extremely powerful tool!
Cheers.

Oh good to Noah Spaceship that you have Mac. I don't know a fraction of what you know about recording equipment, but only know that when we had an iMac custom made with big fat hard drive for the studio life got so much easier. Everything else seems to talk to it much better than it did with Windows

Thanks Noah,
I'm learning that Focusrite/Scarlette is based on mac which explains why your set up is easier.
They saw me comming!!!!AAAAARRRRGGgggghhhhhhhh!!!!
Maybe I need to go down to Guitar Center and strangle them ........... Fuckers.....
I guess I should go down to LMC university and take a class.

I feel your pain. We struggled with Cubase forever before realizing it wasn't compatible with Mac - soooo frustrating. I vote for strangling people at Guitar Center.
I've had such bad experiences with that store.

Lord knows I have bought my share of music software that didn't work with my version of this, that or the other damned thing. They are all compatible with something an incompatible with something else. That is how I wound up with both Mac and PC's. I even run windows on my Mac via bootcamp. Also, these companies offer little to no technical assistance. Pro tools will sell you some. Assholes! I am fortunate that I can successfully run several platforms on on my Mac and PC's. It is quite a learning curve and that is why I went back to college. By the way, DVC has one of the best music technology programs around here Duane and it is a lot cheaper than a university.
Hope You Find Some Quick Solutions!
Respect,
Stoneman
