I am profoundly unsympathetic in regards to Heather Mills' recent public whining.
Mills Driven 'Close to Suicide' by Media

LONDON (Oct. 31) - Heather Mills, estranged wife of former Beatle Paul McCartney, says Britain's tabloid media drove her "close to suicide" and wrongly cast her as a gold-digger.
Mills appeared on British television on Wednesday to promote a campaign calling for a change in laws governing the media that would offer individuals greater protection, and asked viewers to visit Web site www.youcare.com to sign a petition.
'I've had worse press than a pedophile. I've had 18 months of absolute abuse," Mills told GMTV in an interview during which she fought back tears several times.
"They've called me a whore, a gold-digger, a fantasist, a liar, the most unbelievably hurtful things.
"I've stayed quiet for my daughter. We've had death threats, I've been close to suicide ... I've had worse threats than a pedophile or a murderer, and I've done nothing but charity for 20 years," said Mills, 39.
GMTV said Mills appeared on the show at her own request.
Mills, who has a daughter Beatrice with McCartney, denied reports she had been offered a large financial settlement by the musician in what has become a bitter divorce battle.
"I have been offered nothing, OK?" she said.
"These figures are made up. 100 million (pounds), 50 million, 20 million ... How do you know if I even want any money? I'm 1-1/2 million in debt in lawyers' fees."
The former model and charity worker denied reports she was holding out for the right to sell the story of her marriage to McCartney, 65, in the future.
"It's rubbish. I could sell my story right now. I'm trying to protect Paul and our daughter." The couple married in 2002 and split after four years.
Mills said she had been the subject of 4,400 "abusive" articles and compared her situation to that of Kate McCann, the mother of missing girl Madeleine, and Princess Diana, who died after being chased by paparazzi.
"That is what we're doing as a nation, buying these newspapers," she told GMTV. "Every time you buy one of those you contribute to it. So force a change for responsible journalism."
She said the "hate campaign" whipped up by some tabloid media put her and her daughter's life at risk.
"That's why I considered killing myself, because I thought if I'm dead, she's safe and she can be with her father."
In a later television interview on BBC, Mills was asked: "Are you saying that Paul McCartney does not protect you and your child?," to which she replied: "I'm afraid not."
McCartney's spokesman had no comment on the remark.

I have little sympathy for her in many ways - but I join her in despising our tabloid press. Those so-called "newspapers" and their editors, journalists and photographers are the lowest of the low, they have zero respect for any form of privacy or humanity and are interested purely in money-grabbing! We would be a better country without them.

The tabloid press is a double edged issue. It sells, it's popular, so isn't the buyer nearly as responsible as the provider?
As for Heather Mills, her disingenuousness is beyond belief here, and she deserves every razz they can muster up.

It is indeed a double-edged issue, we agree on that. But that doesn't make it an asset to society!
I would still prefer a world without tabloids - and the people who read that dross, well they would just have to read something a little more rewarding and perhaps (dare I say it) uplifting and educational! No matter what, it is NOT okay to hound and harass people in order to make money out of selling the tales of their tragedies, sensationalised beyond belief!

I saw the interview and thought how sad. I empithize with Ms. Mills also. Until each of us have walked a mile in her shoes, we have no right to judge her. They should leave her and Britney Spears alone. Enough.

The tabloids are providing a product for which there is a demand. As long as there is a demand they will thrive in a free world. I for one choose not to participate.
I wish more people were like me.

if the media would focus more on the good in people; and especially celebrites that heavily influence our youth, then perhaps our society could do a turn-around. personally, i get tired of hearing about who is sleeping with who, and who is partying into the wee hours, who's suing who and how much money this one or that one is getting in settlement, etc.

There! Someone like me! The media will not focus on the good in people until there is a demand for that. When everybody is sick of all the crap and ready for some good news then they'll deliver it. In the mean time they're selling what the public's buying. Jo Ellen said it - consumers demand it, tabloids deliver it. I hope at some point consumers get sick of it like we are. Problem is there's a new consumer born everyday.

First....Ms.Mills will get her Cash! For her to insinuate anything less is completley asinine.
Also, to insinuate Paul will not protect his child Beatrice, is also insulting.
Paul was a faithful Husband to Linda for Years! By all accounts he was a great Husband and Father. I have no doubt Ms.Mills is feeding some of the Outlandish stories about Paul to the media she despises in an effort to help her case.
If anything, The Media and Paul have protected her! The stories about her sex pictures did not come out till after the separation. Either the Media kept it a secret out of respect for Paul, or he had a direct hand in it I don't know...But the story was too salacious to be kept quiet without some effort.
Ms.Mils went on "Dancing with the Stars" here in the States in an effort to repair her image, in some regards it worked. The best thing for her to do regarding the Media is to keep her mouth shut, when she opens it she fans the flames.
Paul is a living Legend and Royalty in England, give me a break...she knew what was involved when she agreed to be Mrs. McCartney.
I went to many of Pauls shows, he ended them wearing a red T-Shirt that said "No More Land Mines"..This in support of Ms.Mills Cause.
Is Paul a Saint? Not by a Long Shot, but I do feel he is a good Man, Father, and Husband. His Relationship to Linda supports this, I have yet to hear any negativity regarding this.
Ms Mills will get Millions...make no mistake...
I don't feel any sympathy for her whatsoever....

After seeing several more interviews on her "the world's ganging up on me" tour, I really can't believe anybody is sympathetic to her sob story.
