Australian bushfires!
To all those who have Australian friends!!
A huge disaster has unfolded in the state of Victoria where many families have lost their lives in a series of bushfires around Melbourne-these fires have already claimed nearly 200 lives many burnt in their cars while trying to escape!
We feel so sad for these neighbours and hope and pray that the extreme temperatures will drop and bring some reliefwords seem inadequate !!!

I am so sorry for the Loss, I read they are calling it "Mass Murder" because it was intentionally set.
My Heart goes out to all who lost their lives, and to their families.

no one knows the true scale of the lost, tragedy on an unheard of scale for my country, the flame so intense, body's bunt to nothing in an instant, no remains left for identification
many days of 45C heat, then the wind
for every loved one lost hundreds with horrifying burns
whole towns gone in an instant
please pray for our dead and bereaved

The worst disaster in Australia's peacetime history. A terrible loss that will be felt for many years to come. It is comforting though to see the ability of Australians to rally together and help each other. Tragedies like these generally bring out the best in people.
Our thoughts go to all those who have lost family, friends, homes and their community, but we have to thank all those volunteers firefighters, SES, Ambulance, Red Cross, Salvos etc. many of whom have themselves lost something in the fires. We the fortunate ones must count our blessings and give what we can.

Just wanted to draw the attention of Aussie and New Zealand musos in particular to this bulletin from
Global Thunda on MySpace
"Welcome to this special Global Thunda Network announcement.
We, like all Australians, are shocked and saddened by the devastation in our Nation’s South/East and are in awe of the fantastic work being done by our Australian fire fighters, The Red Cross and other emergency services.
Millions of dollars worth of properties and possessions have been lost, and amongst those losses is the musical equipment and studios of musicians and engineers in the area.
While our Government and local communities will be helping with the necessities of food, shelter, financial assistance & support, we need to help our brothers and sisters in the East rebuild their musical lives, which in many cases is their livelihood.
Global Thunda Network has begun to co-ordinate with some fantastic musicians and promoters across Australia in an effort to replace some of the gear that was lost. These people are planning fund raiser events to raise money for the purpose of purchasing replacement equipment. We ask all venues across Australia to support these promoters in this effort to help our Victorian musicians in crisis.
Musician can help in two ways.
If you were thinking of selling any equipment or are no longer in need of equipment you may own, we ask you to consider donating the equipment to this cause.
Alternatively, any musicians who are interested in donating their services to help raise the funds through the fund raiser events can contact the following people.

I was just reading up on it when I saw your post Rob.
Our sympathies go out to all Australians, who sadly will have to demonstrate their awesome spirit and strength once again. And we'll be praying for a little rain for them too.
It's a small consolation to those who lost loved ones that the authorities are closing in on the arsonists and that they "may be charged with murder."

Yes, horrible. And what's worse is that they estimate half the fires were started intentionally.
