Sometimes bands use computer bots to post things on every music site. When they were asked a question (by a human) the response was an ad instead of a human answer.

, So thought I visit here today and comment, maybe post what is happening in my world then saw this, and said why bloody bother , disappointed I even showed up here seeing some of the comments placed on this thread the only one worth reading was Ken's and he got a response on his artist page. I thought we were suppose to support bands and welcome them instead of being dismissive . If you check Ken's page you will see a response from Sheri Ann at Golden Swan Records. Frankly this is exactly the type of thing that turns me right off. no excuse. And it is not funny at all

I was curious about if the label was a self created label or an outside label. Here is the information that I found and was given to me by them which I found interesting. I wrote a note to them on their page:

Crown of Roses formed in early 1994 with their debut EP ,First Water, released on cassette tape and CD, by a Self-Produced label. The band has always been striving for that alternative/inspirational & classic Christian sound, to make a connection through music, and to bring others a feeling of His higher ways.

Presently, the band is recording new material in the endless mountains of Penna., USA., @ Golden Swan Records Studios, for their upcoming album.

I would expect the response to op's first post on this thread is pretty near zero everywhere it is posted, unless they actually have devoted followers somewhere who are devoted to looking for their next gig/release. This is a cardboard type of post, the kind that used to clog MP3com's forums in later years, lost in a sea of like posts. At least here, people actually read it. They commented, and the comments are about the lack of care on the part of this band as per their advertising.

Don't you think they need some sort of feedback on their manner of advertising? Could it be they could do it with some sort of personalization instead of some sort of typically corporate-wannabee meaningless blather? Don't you think they should know that's how it's seen? Which it clearly is, from the response.

The best thing they did here was to spell "First" as "Fist". Now that attracted attention, which, after all is what they're seeking.

lyin dan. i have scripted the same type thing as what was posted here for the last 15 years on behalf of at least a 100 bands I have promoted over that time. except that it is on yahoo blues groups newsgroups and so on. there is nothing wrong with what has been done here.

I also use a scripted format that works on the many digital submission platforms and those I have built up relationships with over the years and when once in the door so to speak, you gain a certain interaction from those many postings on the variety of music boards and sites so it goes from impersonal to personal one on one with the music directors

I get what the unconscious dude was saying, captain contortion or whoever. it goes with the territory of a promoter. and it is no easy task trying to work and worm your way into the system, into the music biz and into the heads of music directors.

Yes, i am totally aware of this band Crown of Roses over the years. the person who posted this is just doing their job as i have. trying to pry open doors and eyes.

True, they could do better, but there are far better places then this to work ones promo and they just do what they can to perhaps make someone aware of the band

I stopped using this place for pitching the groups i work with, waste of time. no traction, i go where the real radio and audience is and that is the djs and music directors I work with, and yes, i love the music here, and have done a lot of work trying to make it a better place, with what I thought are insightful and respectful reviews. but my time is better spent, working elsewhere. and it is a great meeting place. a good place, a fine place to work ones chops with others and doing collab and sharing ideas, but one will never go anywhere because of IMP. not a slam just the truth

And we me have just hijacked their post. and perhaps that is a good thing, maybe more eyes can become aware of them , But they need to obviously update their artist site here, their songs DONT play.

and there is my own self-righteous post telling you all a bit of what i do and ahve done and still do. I am no big shot in teh biz, but i have helped a lot of artists get their music spins, on charts on college radio rootmusicreport and on commercial radio. it is a damn bloody tough biz. we are a drop in an ocean of artists. throw me a life preserver. i am drowning

Also, frankly, I don't like their sound at all. That nasally thin whiny sound has been done before with more attitude by AXL Rose, and he still stinks. They sound like a bunch of little puppies or kittens. If the message was powerful, that could be tolerated, but these twerps are just pretentious. It's almost like some of the drivel you heard back in the 60's-70's, please listen to us, we're important!

God-awful. Songs serving Him should not sound like this.

OK, Bryon, I don't want to fight you. It's just that this sort of promotion just doesn't do it. If the band is great, then ANYTHING will do. Really it will. In my opinion, these guys are weak. They need STRONG promotion and some sort of gimmick, because only the like of them will be attracted to this, and God forbid that there are that many of them to glorify this.

I don't hate the promoter. EVERYONE's got to have a job. Just...do better. Accept the feedback, and be glad you got it. And do differently. Maybe by trying to REACH someone, rather than just mechanically throwing it out there. If you love God, don't you care about people? Talk to them, don't spray plaster.

Yah LyinDan , i am sure they'll love the love they are getting here, I think i might have posted one of their songs in the past. but cant remember. Alzheimer is setting in.

but yes. i have worked with incredible bands, and have one right now that is charting here but big bloody deal, are they making money, with downloads of their songs, probably not, they are new. it takes time, like 1 cd is not enough. you need to do like way more. and unless you have someone with deep deep pockets, and like you say have a gimmick like a big fist in the rose bush (with thorns) it aint going to go far.

I have one group i started out with 15 years ago. they are pulling in royalties every quarter from the 4 cds I pitched to commercial radio. now they are getting TV and some movie cash for getting some of their songs in that media, plus they have a guy who got them streaming on a number of places and actually pulling in some nice coin every quarter. but one has to learn the ropes. get your songs registered with your P R O in whatever country you live in also once released get them up on bds Nielsen with the virtual encode that actual enhances ones ability to improve their royalties (get ISRCs), if you release to radio. terrestrial and or satellite or internet radio, those that are actually properly registered with https://www.streamlicensing.com/ here at IMP, i doubt it if anyone is getting anything. ever even on the KAYAK program, I am not sure if any of the artists have given permission to have their music broadcast on radio , there is a lot to learn about the biz. I I do more then just pitch peoples music, i have to make sure everything is in place, i have to act as a publicist. I have to not only pitch and promote but track. a songs progress, it is a massive job. bigger and more complicated then i can explain here. it is not just uploading a song somewhere and hoping it gets noticed, you have to work it, and if a band has a track record, past cds and I have good relationships with people .then it will go well., and the music of course has to be radio ready. and sometimes even the crap can make money...

anyways., i have to go i cant be f**king around here. it is taking away from my productive time

So what if they don't respond and use as promotion only? Let that group will handle it's promotion how they do. Maybe others treat promotions or interactions differently so what if they do? If you think the approach is plastic then choose to ignore them.

I have no problem with other artist promoting themselves and maybe my promotion efforts are different but that does not make mine better just different.

The only question I had for them which they answered was if the label they were on now was self created label or a real label because I could not find much information about the label I assumed it might have been created in-house but that was incorrect.
