Hillary getting desperate and obstinate, McCain likes the younger women.
I can't believe that when this campaign started, I thought I'd be voting for her. We know the Clintons do good for the economy. However seeing some of the cheap tactics she's been using to try to counter the Obama surge, it's turning this into a sporting event for me where I literally couldn't stand to see her win.

McCain's dealings with that lobbyist early in the decade make me wonder more about his government ethics than his fidelity. I just don't think side relationships are a real political issue. Guiliani had the same problem but his was that he was using NY state money to whisk around his girlfriend, not that he had one in the first place.

Go Obama. Some worry though that he will be assassinated by some nut.

Holo, I am not going to get in a pissing match with you again, I just want to say that your complete bias and willingness to drink up anything the media feeds you really hurts your credibility. Your mind is made up no matter what information is sent your way.You seem to disregard all contradictions of viewpoint, and grasp every piece of information that feeds your already cemented mindset. Why don't you talk about Obamas racist Pastor? Or his wifes ridiculous statement that she is Proud of America for the first time in her life? I guess graduating from a prestigious law firm was not reason to be proud of the country that allowed her the opportunity?? Our media gives a pass on these issues, you have heard very little in the main stream press... If it were McCain it would be pounded on. I agree that we never hear enough positive info, just the negative.

What the world need now is rational thought, free of bias or preconceived notions. I understand it is very hard to do with the wealth of information we are bombarded with...the problem is the majority of information is Agenda driven.Mainstream media is ridiculously biased. I implore all to keep an open mind and look at issues not from a political or ideaolgical viewpoint, but from a logic based and emotion free analysis. If this can be done, and I admit it is very hard to do, we all would be much better.

Good luck to us all.

I agree Laree! To be clear, I think Obama is an extremly intelligent man, I also agree an articulate President will be great for our the United States. I just feel to be fair his dirty laundry should be pounded on by the Press in equal measures. The views of his Pastor bother me, and although Obama has tried to distance himself he still attends the church. That shows a lack of judgement...

Obamas Pastor is a racist in every definition of the word. Unfortunately, it seems African-Americans are given a pass. If he were a white man, and If you substituted the word "White" in any of his comments the country would be appalled. This is a great time in the United States, I just think it sad that Obama is associated with the man. As for McCain? I can't believe he is the best to be running for President. I can only surmise that it is a very closed process, or the very best are to wise to run for President. No matter who wins, I hope we can all be proud of the Job, and that the Country and the World is a better place.

Perhaps if Obama had spent some time as a POW, his teeth and looks would not fit the "pretty boy" type. I don't think the pointing fingers at looks is relevant; unless of course it is a matter of the lack of personal hygiene.

Look at the man, what he has done for his country, what he hopes he can do for his country, and not promises that are made for campaign sake. I'm still out on that one! And I say "man" cause as far as I'm concerned Hillary isn't an option.

Jeff, your posts are really getting asinine, you never talk about any real issues, you just attempt to character assassinate me.

Your mind is made up no matter what information is sent your way.You seem to disregard all contradictions of viewpoint, and grasp every piece of information that feeds your already cemented mindset."

Sounds like you showed up to get into a pissing match. Exactly what are you claiming I'm "drinking up" that is not true? There really wasn't much there I stated that was even any kind of a reinterpretation of news, it was just a few opinions which I have the right to have. What I said proves my mind wasn't made up. I posted on another forum that I was going to vote for Hillary until I really got to take a good look at Obama. I have no mindset. I watch newsshows from both sides and make up my mind about everything. So why don't you deal with actual points instead of wasting a full paragraph going for a pissing match, and don't deny it.

"Obamas Pastor is a racist in every definition of the word."

He runs a black church of which there are hundreds of around this country. Obama has repudiated statements the guy made and this pastor is also close to retirement. Tell us exactly why his choice of church affects his ability to lead. Did you also have issues with Romney whose religion embraces polygamy? You are what you loathe, it turns out The only people making a fuss about this issue is the wacko right wing element, you're brainwashed.

"Or his wifes ridiculous statement that she is Proud of America for the first time in her life?"

========

""Speaking in Milwaukee, Wis., on Monday, she said, “People in this country are ready for change and hungry for a different kind of politics and … for the first time in my adult life I am proud of my country because it feels like hope is finally making a comeback.”

Greeted with rousing applause after making the comment in Milwaukee, Obama delivered an amended version of the speech later that day in Madison, Wis.

“For the first time in my adult lifetime, I’m really proud of my country … not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change,” she said. “I have been desperate to see our country moving in that direction and just not feeling so alone in my frustration and disappointment.”"

============================

Big deal. I haven't been too proud of my country for a long time either. Look at last 20 years. We had Reagan, 2 Bushes, Ford, Carter, and the best of the bunch was a guy who said "I did not have sex with that woman" when he did. We're in a ridiculous and expensive fiasco of a war we got into under false pretenses. It is great and rare when this country really does seem to be wanting a change from Washington business as usual, she was right on. Stop watching the political shows, you're a poor excuse for a sponge, Jeff.

My Wife is from a Mormon Family...the most hard working, good hearted people I know. The Mormons denounced polygamy long ago...

Thanks for reponding Laree, I really had to control myself on that one.

Bottom line, instead of blindly defending, I would think a simple ackowlegement that a few of Pastor Wrights comments and beliefs are a little disturbing. He also gave Louis Farakahn a "Lifetime acheivement award" calls the United States a Racist Country, and seems to give no individual responsibility to African Americans. I agree racism does exist in America, but to continue to play the Race card and portray your congregation as Victims does a disservice to everyone. It does bother me that the next President of the United States may have this man as a close advisor. Simple as that, I have no Agenda here....I just call them as I see them.

Mainstream media will continue to shield Obama from this, my whole point is if it were McCain who had a pastor and advisor with questionable beliefs, it would be all over the media...the story would be huge.

I stand by every word in this thread, you can call them crazy spins, or attack me personally...but I do not blindly defend and I try to think for myself. Information is out there, all I can do is try to analyze and form an opinion, my personal opinion.Holo you always state opinions as if they were fact....Nobody is perfect.....not even Obama.

Actually it wouldn't bother me that much if a presidential candidate was a Scientologist. Freedom of religion is the reason this country exists, really.

"All it tells me is you were preparing your Venom against Romney, the enemy. You did not do your due diligence on that one, just has you continue to fail now."

I like Romney a lot better than McCain or Huckabee. He is not "the enemy'. You argue like idiot rightwingers on talk radio, you don't even listen, you just go off halfcocked.

"Again I state my point, your mind is made up...you picked a side long ago. Its laughable that you site that you are free thinking because you switched from Hillary to Obama...Please, are you serious? Your Agenda is clear."

If you're talking about being anti-war, anti-Patriot Act, pro-environment and anti-Washington, I suppose that's true but I wouldn't call it an agenda.

"As for relevancy, Obama seeks council from his Pastor, in fact he sought advice about running for the Presidency."

Pastors provide mostly religious and spiritual guidance. Tell us, do you think this pastor is going to influence Obama to run a racist government?

"Reverend Wrights prejudice, racist, victim centered views make it very relevant. Giving a lifetime achievement award to Louis Farrakahn? Are you serious? Really? Please defend that one."

The fact that it seems most of your opinion about Obama is based on who his pastor is, of all things, makes me think you might have some racist blood running thru your veins yourself. This is far more important and relevant to you than anyone I've seen so far. Even the mainstream rightwing media doesn't harp on this much. Limbaugh uses Obama's middle name to slur him, that's really the same kind of thinking. By the way I didn't imply that you listen to Limbaugh, my point was that Rush is about the only one who would see things as you stated above, in regards to my posts. :>)

"I have, many times during our spirited conversations admitted I don't have all the answers, you have never once been conciliatory."

The whole theme of this post was about how I was way offbase about Hillary before.

"You are either too stubborn, mean spirited, or clueless...I can't figure it out. You do have passion, and I will hand that to you Holo. Just be man enough to admit you can be wrong now and then, and you will go far in life."

I was wrong about the Super Bowl, I thought New England would win. I was wrong about some other things too. I never thought the US would become a nation that tortured, or that would wiretap all telecom transmissions of its citizens illegally. I had more faith in our government than that. I also never thought that one president could lower how the US was thought of around the world to this extent in less than a decade.

"Black women are being raped daily in Darfur, Sudan, in the Congo and in Sub-Saharan Africa. That doesn't make news," Wright said in the August 2005 edition of Trumpet Magazine, a publication of his Trinity United Church of Christ.

But, "One 18-year-old white girl from Alabama gets drunk on a graduation trip to Aruba, goes off and 'gives it up' while in a foreign country, and that stays in the news for months!" he added. "Maybe I am missing something"

---

This offends you why, exactly? Last I heard about the Holloway story, if you believe Geraldo and others who have been following it closely, it appears she had a bad reaction to cocaine and that's what ultimately killed her. k, it may be disrespectful for him to say she "gives it up", but they did cover that story beyond belief, it was on Nancy Grace and Greta for months at a time. He's totally right about the fact that if it had been a black American woman even, it wouldn't have gotten 1/1000th the airtime it did. The man makes a worthy point. Are you telling us you think the death of a white American woman deserves more coverage than all the abuse of women going on in other countries?

==

What's your point, that the Duke Lacrosse case is supposed to reflect on all African Americans? I'm sorry but I'm getting a racist vibe from both you and Jeff in your need to slam Obama cause of his pastor's views.

Obviously there are some militant black leaders who go over the top but it's not like there isn't still a racial divide in this country. That some factions are not level-headed about their stand on these issues to me is not that difficult to understand considering the history of our country. The fact that we're just now, for the first time, approaching the real possibility of our first black president says it all.

I wasn't dissing mormons at all. I was merely pointing out if you're going to drag somebody's religion into things to the extent that you're judging a candidate by something his pastor said, it only makes sense that you might view Romney with the similar disdain because it's all an irrelevant stretch. How about Huckabee, he's the candidate who most blatantly brings religion into his platform? Now if you were offended by that, that might make sense but if Huckabee's Aunt Matilda is a racist and he still allows her to come to family reunions, I don't think that really matters.

That's not a hateful statement. Are you telling us you wouldn't have multiple wives if you could? (Note: first you'd have to find one woman who likes you before you could go for 2) :))

from Wikipedia

The term "Mormon" is most often used to refer to members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). The LDS Church holds that it is incorrect to apply "Mormon" to other groups or their members.[3] The Associated Press Stylebook agrees, specifying that the term "Mormon" is not properly applied to other Latter-Day Saint groups founded after the death of Joseph Smith, Jr.[4]

Nevertheless, the term is also often used to refer to fundamentalist groups who continue to practice plural marriage,[5] a practice that the LDS Church officially abandoned in 1890.[6][7] These groups, while numerically much smaller than the LDS Church, continue to use the term "Mormon" and claim to represent "true Mormonism" as taught and practiced by Joseph Smith and Brigham Young.

--

Using "true mormonism" to bash Romney isn't inherently different than acting like Obama's pastor's views are his by definition.

Holo, you seem to have a pathological desire to be right, and have the world fit nicely inside your little box of misguided reason. It borders on the dysfunctional, you cannot or will not consider anothers viewpoint. It's more important for you to be right then to concede anothers' opinion. You guys are funny. You want to harp on Obama beyond belief cause of personal opinions held by his pastor. Now the argument has turned to a tiny little thing I said about Romney being taken completely out of context. You use the Duke lacrosse incident and invoke the race card as an example of what this irrelevant pastor might think.

Here's some stuff I found looking just for a few minutes on google.

"An important part of Mormon belief during the 19th century was that a man had to have at least three wives in order the reach the highest of the three levels of Heaven and eventually become a god in charge of his own universe."

"According to the Attorney General of Utah, about 40,000 Fundamentalist Mormons still live according to "the principle" of polygyny as established by Joseph Smith. 2
According to Principle Voices of Polygamy, a group which promotes plural marriage, there are about 37,000 people live in polygynous families in the western U.S. Of this number, on the order of 10,000 live in the border-straddling twin cities of Hildale, UT, and Colorado City, AZ."

"There are reports that the wives are required to apply for government welfare as soon as they become mothers, and that members are brought up to believe that they have to follow the demands of their leader or risk losing their eternal salvation."

Now before you get bent out of shape, Larree, personally I don't think polygamy should be a crime and it's not relevant why they did it. I'm down with polygamy. :))) My point is, to make it as simple as possible for you clowns, is that getting all wrapped up in Obama's pastor is equivalent to ragging on Romney cause he's a mormon (considering the heritage of that culture).

and Jeffy, don't lecture me. I offered a few small observations based on my opinions at the beginning of this thread and you showed up all angsty. Obviously that's because you don't like my choice of candidate. Fine, state your own and your reasons but don't try to mischaracterize me, as the main thrust of your contribution to my blog.

I want to add something else. I realized something seeing this crazed attitude towards Obama based on his pastor from 2 artists with reasonable intelligence that should we have a McCain/Obama race which is looking pretty likely, it's going to be a very race-dominated election. If guys like Larree and Jeff can't get above things like this, imagine where talk radio is going to go. If a white candidate attended an Al Sharpen gathering or sought advise from him, it wouldn't be a political issue. It seems there is an undertone of racism that may actually get in the way of Obama being elected. This is a lot of grasping at straws and while I doubt these 2 guys arguing with me are racists, if they're going to react like this to any involvement a black candidate has with certain elements of black culture, they're making race point blank a huge factor and that's the beast right there - you would think our country has come farther than this.

"If a white candidate attended an Al Sharpen gathering or sought advise from him, it wouldn't be a political issue"

Are you serious??? Hell yes it would!! I don't give a rats ass that Obama is Black,

Obamas' reverend, friend, and Mentor has some questionable views. Is "questionable" a fair word to use? can you concede that?? You started this thread by bringing up how McCain likes Younger Women because of a sensationalized piece in the New York Times. I pointed out a "questionable" aspect about Obama.... you dismissed it, no surprise there. I hope Obama lifts up all people and improves race relations in this country. The good Rev Wright is focused on racism...just as Sharpton has made a career out of it.

Oh, and don't call me Jeffy. :)

I had that in my headline about McCain for fun but as I said I'm more concerned about his dealings with lobbyists than I am with his girlfriends. Keep your eye on the sparrow, and don't bring race into this election.

Here's a song for you to cover, Larree.

Larree he said we have reasonable intelligence, I will take that as a victory :)

As for a crazed attitude?, no sir I have not been caught up in "Obamamania" like many in the Country, I sir still believe we should be asking questions.

You know nothing about me, you assume I am right wing because I question your Left wing views? No friend, I have stated over and over I try to analyze information from both sides. I am pissed at both parties! Politicians in General...

I have a song "The Choice" I wrote and recorded with just Guitar..I am going to post it, I think it is relevant to our conversations. Please have a listen... Back to the Music and why we are here!

I voted for and am supporting Obama after much thought and consideration. As far as I'm concerned, no politician is someone I'd like to be buddies with, but we have to have a leader, so I had to make a decision. Anyone of course can disagree, but these are my reasons.

1. He is smart. No doubt that he's intelligent.

2. He runs a large operation, his campaign, and he's doing an amazing job organizing, drumming up support, and raising money. (People have said, there are thousands of companies, then comes Google. I believe that's aptly describes him.) It's pretty flawless as I can see. How else would he be able to zoom straight up the charts, while Hillary descends. She's even got a 'popular' former president campaigning in full force for her.
Even Bill Clinton's 1992 Campaign manager is supporting Obama.

3. He's a reformer. He speaks not only fixing mistakes of the past, but changing the mentality that got us here in the first place. I have felt frustrated with Washington for most of my life. And he addresses this frustration.

4. He's got moral courage. He was right about opposing the war, and right about the fact that our resources (billions and billions) were being used in the wrong country. He mentions on occasion that as a result of Iraq, we are ignoring a lot of very dangerous regimes in other parts of the world. I believe he would be wise in our use of military forces, money spent, and troops sacrificed.

5. He's a leader and a delegator. People complain that he's not detailed enough. First of all he is, but he just doesn't put people to sleep during rallies enumerating every detail of where he stands on the issues. I went to his website and read the issues. That's a relief to me. I feel confident that he'll continue to think strategically, and find the smartest most qualified people to work out the details. That's what good leaders do. That's what he's done so well with his campaign and that's what I believe he will continue to do if he's elected.

6. He's got enough experience for me. There's a list of his accomplishments here if you're interested. He's worked to pass through some tough legislation. http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/2/20/11354/7731/262/460441

7. He knows the Constitution like the back of his hand, and even taught Constitutional Law! This is very very important to me. Nuff said.

8. I will address here his affiliation with a Black church. He's half Black and half White. He could have done what a lot of black people do, who get a great education, and ignore the black community.

He obviously had the possibility to get a high paying job. He was a Harvard graduate. But he went to become a community organizer. He helped communities, and black communities, in grass roots changes.

Black people don't have as many automatic advantages as Whites in this country. I'm not a Black Panther, I'm not even Black. I'm actually very White colored. But I've been the only White girl in a Black school in Detroit, (it was NOT fun -- believe me.) and yes, I have a special insight to the Black community. It may sound pretentious but it's how I grew up. Living in a place very much like the South Side of Chicago is something I had to do in order to have a clue about what the Black community is living, without feeling threatened or without thinking black communities are racist by nature.

He does not appear to be a divider. He's not an Al Sharpton and he's not a Jesse Jackson. He's Barack Obama. His mommy was white as snow from Kansas. His grandparents who raised him were White too. His daddy who left him at age two was Black from Kenya. He's by nature a uniter.

He has united millions already, without even being elected yet. And we are all races and not only that, but members of the Demorcratic, Independent, and Republican parties. Even those of us who were completely apolitical are finding a way to become involved again.

9. He showed us his tax returns.

10. Yes, I like the dude an

This is funny, my buds Larree and Jeffro acting like they won after I drag their politically-challenged butts all over the astroturf, [yowl] then when a lady shows up, the hatchet job on Obama suddenly ends with a whimper. Of course that lady was quite articulate and wouldn't respond to all the baiting by these juveniles anyways. :>)

There you go with your pathological need to win.....You really need to look into that friend. Also, try to work on your diplomatic skills, you have none. You won nothing.... your a funny guy. Are you happy in the real world???, I hope so...you just look so damn pissed off all the time. Perhaps a little bit more experience wise you up. You don't need to be right, you just need to have principle. We all will be wrong approx 50% of the time...and I am ok with that, it's how you Learn

Loved the exercise in futility.... Cya, and have a wonderful optimistic Day!

SuperPuss sits quietly on a rug, purring and waiting patiently for some pats and a bowl of food, genuinely amused by all the energy flowing frantically between human figures!!!

SuperPuss cares not of political diatribe but is more content knowing that the world is still a pleasant place to live. There are still plenty of birds to chase and balls of quantum string to play with and her owner provides a comfortable bed to curl up on each night.

Meow.
