The rest of the world so wants a return to the days when America had a real statesman. We will see just how much, later this week.

I think it's cool he visited the mideast. The Europe thing seems less important.
I don't get all excited about pomp and circumstance even though he obviously needs that to get votes and he has a great ability to attract crowds.
$720 million is spent per day on the Iraq War. Most of the money to finance this war is borrowed from China and Japan. Not to mention all of my friends who are there and some who died. And their families, etc.
I'm going to vote for him because he 'appears' to have the right ideas. I'm willing to give him a chance.

There. That's three examples of three HIGHLY IMPORTANT issues where he came down on the wrong side. What more does it take to see that he is part of the problem, not the solution? How can you gloss over this stuff?
I got caught up in Obamania too until I started actually examining his words vs his votes, and I found he's just more of the same old same old. He voted to reauthorize war funding, voted to support the FISA legislation, and voted to renew the Patriot Act.
Oh but he's a good speaker and his wife is pretty, so vote him in.

Nerol you obviously went on a google fest. Obama is widely criticized for having the most liberal voting record in the Senate. Surely he is not liberal enough to please you but if he were, he'd be far less likely to be elected and never be able to do anything for your issues.
I bet you also believe the McCain ad that blames Obama for high gas prices!

I'm not pro-anybody, nor anti-anybody at this point in time. However, I'm finding it harder and harder to put my faith in someone who refuses to take a stand on issues presented before him. People elect you to do a job and that means voting for or against something, not to sit on the fence and ponder the situation while it zooms out of control.
I guess we really are a nation of whiners and weenies; all the while taking every piece of crap that is thrown at us - - extremely higher commodities prices, politicians lies and false hopes, taxes, more taxes, and less protection from within our own borders. When does the protest begin? When are we going to say enough is enough, stand united, and force our politicians to actually do something besides talk about it.
If Obama will plant some windmills or waterpaddles along the C&D Canal to provide me with energy at a lower cost - - hey, he has my vote!

Choosy Susie, Obama is only a politician, and is nowhere near the Messiah, as far as I know. He never claimed to be. That vision of him would only hurt him.

And the kind of leader they deserve is one who stops the war instead of one who funds it. One who holds the telecoms accountable for warrantless wiretapping on innocent Americans, not one who grants them immunity. And one who will repeal the Patriot Act, not one who renews it.

i liked the video, q.
i like windmills. i guess Holland does too. : ) coal does have quite a shine to it. i remember playing in it when i was a kid. lots of (cough cough) fun.
i don't know Holo. i spent a little time with local politics and it isn't a vote unless you say, yay or nay. abstaining meant you cast no vote. present, but silent, meant you were at the meeting but you abstained. flip flopping meant that you voted yay one time and nay the next - - straddling the fence, so to speak.
i won't know who i'm voting for until i punch my ballot...and that might be decided by the penny in my pocket--if i don't have to spend it on gas. the childrens' inheritance is dwindling fast!
If Barack wins; someone already posted here--it would be an Obamanation. Someone else said we would be a nation of BO. I have to admit, the jokes are starting out good. Still waiting for the McCain jokes.

Nobody is more disappointed than me that it seems like Bush is going to get off the hook for his unconstitutional acts, war crimes, felonies, etc. Still, by any standards you measure Obama, McCain is 100 times worse.

Laree, I think you've got a point, but for once I do believe, or I'm choosing to believe, that the two candidates this time are a bit more of reformers (look at their voting history) than candidates in the past.
I think they're both doing the 'election thing' because the electorate is who votes them in. But people who watch this closely can see right through it. Their true colors will come out later.
Hopefully for the best.
