I want to thank many people for the nice notes they wrote me on the pipeline, on my page, and in personal mails. I had no idea how many people were following my blogs but it was many more than I ever thought. I looked in on the pipeline a few times and to be honest I have really felt the need to set a few people straight :>) but some of you have stepped up in a big way. I ask those quiet people who are in somewhat of agreement with me to speak out a bit. A number of you I heard from while I was gone I have never seen on the politic blogs while I was taking on numbers of ignorant McCain backers. :>D If you've got an emotional stake in these things, stand up and be heard. It's the American way.

In the true spirit of the First Amendment, let me (apparently) be the first to say that your pathetic, attention getting threat to leave was as "Holo" as your myopic political views.
If you are leaving, leave...if you are staying, don't play the "poor me" card for sympathy. Obviously, whatever their true feelings, most members here are too kind and forgiving to tell you what they think. I am not. Your arrogant, "I'm right, you're all assholes if you don't agree with me" rants are annoying bullshit!
If you have some real opinions that show intelligence, human feeling and are not condescending campaign slogans, issue forth.
Otherwise, just stay gone.

I want to address Kurt Kurtley directly, though. :>) Are you accusing all the people on this thread and the pretty sizeable number of people who contacted me outside the pipeline of being disingenuous? I think that's asinine. I've barely seen you contribute opinions here on any topic outside of promoting yourself and your projects, except to show your face to take snipes at me.
I've seen at least 20, maybe even more individuals leave this site, then come back again, since I arrived at IAC. Strangely, I didn't ever see you lecturing them. In fact, a lot of the reason I returned was to address cowardly individuals like yourself, who can only chime in when they're relatively certain they have a few people on their bandwagon. Yes, I do believe that this, the mother of all elections in recent history, is probably as crisp a choice as America will ever get between an intelligent visionary and a tempermental lying fool. I'm not making any apologies for that opinion and yes, I must say, I don't respect anyone who votes for McCain/Palin unless they are indeed wealthy. Then , I understand. I will also tell you that the next time I think about leaving, I will think to myself, no, I must stay, on behalf of countering the nonsense of chickenshit people like Kurt Kurtley who wants me gone because he can't handle the cold hard truth in his smug face. :>)

Firstly, I have contributed actual considered opinions on several subjects, I do very little self-promotion, the notable exception was when I covered Steve Ison's song, and that was as much to credit Steve as Iit was to promote myself. I have been a musician for more years than you have been alive, and I write, play and record for the love of the music, not for your approval.
As for the importance of this election, I heartily agree that it is hugely important, a bell-weather event in many ways. However, the decision on the winner may have already been made.
It would (perhaps) interest you to know that I believe that the last two elections were stolen, truly fraudulent events, orchestrated by several business and political interests. In my lifetime, I consider the current administration to more corrupt than any other I have known, a title that I had long held for Lyndon Baines Johnson. I also believe that Mr. McCain has either deluded himself, or has been helped in that regard, to believe he is a political savior. I believe nothing could be further from the truth. I also believe the selection of Sarah Palin was a genius stroke of political mis-direction, a skill that the Republicans have turned into an art form. In the last two elections, they forced hot-button emotional referendae onto ballot to ensure emotional, right-wing voting trends.
Also, in the last two elections, exiting polling was so incorrect as to be judged useless, despite the fact that prior to the 2004 election, exit polling had always been accurate to a 3% variance, not the 20 - 30% exhibited in the last two elections.
So, in summary, I respect your right to your convictions, and your opinions, when they appear as genuine thought, but my comments about playing the crowd for sympathy still stand.
And by the way, the "Mother of all Elections" was probably Kennedy - Nixon, 1960.

I think Palin may turn out to be McCain's biggest gaffe. She's totally lacking in substance and that fact reveals itself more every day.
And, if I cared that much about which way the crowd was going, I wouldn't have blogged here for a year straight with little to no agreement from anyone about anything I said (with only a few exceptions). It still remains a question why when there have been many I'm leaving threads here, some quite recently, why me doing so bothers you so much, not that I care. :>)
I do agree with you that the last 2 elections were just not legitimate.

Yeah, but she's not about substance. I think a fairly intelligent 5th grader would discover that, it's all about the ploy...to that people's attention away from McCain and his serious limitationis. Why else would he want to delay a debate because of the state of the economy? Wouldn't it seem more realistic to want to dive into that subject first, not foreign policy? It's all a scam!

Picking Palin was obviously a spur-of-the-moment decision with politics at the core but McCain should've known that it would be impossible to hide her lack of readiness to be a heartbeat away as they say. It was sort of like pulling the pin on a grenade and hoping it didn't blow up before the election. :>)
I think the pundits and Barney Frank have it right about McCain's desire to postpone the debate. He is freefalling in the polls and it was just more razzle dazzle to try to change the direction things are going for him.

The situation in this country and the world is dire...I cannot believe what is going on...Things have really been disastrous....very scary....now....
I cannot stand Palin and McCain....they just make me sick...dunno...
The economy is really a mess...interesting that McCain wants to postpone the debate...I don't know...how this is going to go.

One last thought on this, before I fade away for the day. As long as the Republicans can run a campaign based upon false, misleading and derogitory TV ads, they have a good chance of stealing another one. They know face-to-face is death, they will do everything in their power to avoid it, and when confronted, just rely on sound bite and double talk "(count the 911 references in every debate!)
Also, I mentioned Kennedy-Nixon because
A) It was a defining election politically and philosophically
B) It was the first US Presidential election where television was a key to the outcome.
(BTW, Holo, this does not mean that we are now going steady or anything, no tongue 'til the third date, and I am not convinced by your man Obama, I view him as a lesser evil who carefully hides his cards!)
