. . . . . And it is a new day in America.
I'm a cynical guy. I have seen a lot of examples in my life of where there wasn't much truth, wasn't much justice. I almost don't believe in those concepts, because so often bullies get what they want, stupid ideas triumph over great ones, bad people end up better off than really good people.
Somehow in the fog of the lousy way things are supposed to be, a nation stood up against the stupidity, stuck a fist back in the face of all the lies, recognized the good within a man who so many others brought forth all kinds of dark, skewed reasons to deny him his rightful place in the sun.
It isn't often when we see a truly righteous coming together of multiple fabrics of our society to step forward and impose their collective will to do the right thing. I'm in shock. I knew by the polls what the outcome should be ahead of time but the doubt of my lifetime of watching wrong outcomes kept creeping in.
How unforgettable was tonight. OMG, the future is actually looking positive. A generation ended and a new one began in one giant swoop.

I'm a positive guy .... I told ya it'd be alright Holo ... Don't live in that cynical world my friend ... it isn't good for the soul ...
You will see many, many more wrongs in your life time ... I have seen what you speak of in ways that have, at times, tried my soul ... but each day you wake up is a new day, and nothing that has happened before matters anymore ... and out of each of these new days, there will be some great ones .... they make all the bad ones worth it ...

We are certainly living in interesting and dynamic times.
Many changes are afoot and hopefully a significant amount of what is REALLY going on will be revealed to those who are ready. What we all DO with that information and awareness is the important part.

Times have always been interesting and dynamic, SP - It's not something new.
Also, we all live in our own little worlds as well as in the big one, and one person's 'reality' can be totally different to another's.
Anyway, that's just my opinion and I don't seek to do anything with it.

Obama is now under huge pressure to deliver what so many people want and to put right so much of what people feel is wrong.
The real hard work starts now. I wish him well and believe it's the best possible result but I ain't holding my breath - What will be, will be - He's only human.

I gotta say that I am more proud to be an American this morning than I have been... maybe... ever.
Also, the speeches that both candidates gave last night were top-notch.
In fact, McCain's reminded me of why I liked him in the first place, before he went over the deep end. Simply a good man that would have made a poor president. At least in this time and place.
If you haven't seen it, it's worth watching.

Today I feel so proud to be an American! I'm glad I voted for Barack Obama.
I'm a little sad that Prop 8 looks like it will pass here in California, banning Gay Marriage. But I am hopeful and optimistic that this too shall change one day.

You concentrate on socialism too much...what you don't get is the current administration still takes your money and lots of it, for excessive war, for Wall Street, building more jails and putting more people in jail than any other country in the world, and for so many other things...so they still take your money...and they have put us in such debt and made such a mess with their uncontrolled policies and rampant greed...our country was going down the tubes...people losing their homes, their jobs, and the entire world economy was has been going down the tubes with this administration...The Republicans are for big money...everyone else was suffering. Big business who thinks only of the next quarter profits and not the long term health of the world and environment...and it's because of this huge mess that the Republicans lost. Barack Obama is a good man, he has a good heart, and he is very intelligent, and he was not a C student in college like Bush, and McCain, and he's not a rich guy that had everything handed to him either. The policies of the Republicans have failed...and even Greenspan said his theories were wrong about the market policing itself...it was out of control...this is why the Republicans lost. Now I am not a socialist, but I am somewhat in the middle...I don't think right wing is the answer...look what happened to our country and the entire world...and the Republicans redistributed wealth by giving tax cuts to the rich and making all of us pay all the damn taxes...anyone who votes republican who is not rich is really voting against their interests and I believe they have you brainwashed....and I don't want to argue and make enemies on here...but the reason they lost is because their policies have failed and they have created the biggest financial disaster since the depression.

As citizens of a different country we could not vote!!
--- but we are so proud of ALL of those who turned out in record numbers to make a firm statement that 'fear and hate' do not measure up to 'hope and love!'
The haters will linger for a while----what else do they know?
----but gradually they will dissappear, or maybe even mellow----hard times are still ahead--but there is now light where there was dark---we thank you voters for proving that human nature is basically for good!!!

I just have to say, this is the BEST & most positive political thread ever started by Holo thus far; as you well know I've not been happy with the gentlemen lately.
BUT, Just look at all the happy comments & BRIGHT future, with a chance for change, indicated up in here...

Beautiful sentiments and words from you today holo ... thank you, and much respect to you for your sticktuitiveness and passion.
I remember trying to stay up here in the uk and drifting in and out of sleep and then waking to Jesse Jackson's face bathed in tears it was surreal I've never seen that man cry it's been a long road from when he marched beside Martin Luther King to the present day ! I can only imagine how he must feel ... but aside from all that and how historical it is for a black man to be in office ... he just so happens to be filled with the stuff of great leaders white black or blue ... he is a gift for us all ... for the world and he's got me singing YES WE CAN YES WE CAN !!!
Sure, there may be a backlash of opposition still to come but dammit nothing will ever be the same again and while there is still much work to be done it is surely the dawning of a brand new fucking day for America and for the world !!!!!

We've had a peaceful revolution. Now let's try and use this inspiration to make the lind of music that should be the soundtrack to this new era as was done during the last peaceful revolution in the 60's & 70's when we thought all things were possible.
Once again, young people stepped up and said "enough!" I'm proud of them because they took responsibility for the future by picking up the torch and running with it.
Long may they run and believe that all things are still possible.
