Thank you!
Yes, there is a story.
Sisters is in a work in progress. Kris Zeman is working on backup vocals as we speak. I uploaded it in the current state so she could listen to it and work out her part
But, it started with the guitar. I built a hybrid bass guitar body with six string neck using two bass guitar strings and two pairs of guitar strings (A and D string from a bass and the E and A strings paired like a twelve string guitar) I hand machined a custom bridge and nut and drilled out the headstock to accommodate the bass tuning machines. I selected a custom set of strings so I could open tune it G-D-G-C, which makes it easy to create full strumming chords that sound like two guitars playing when in reality that song has only one guitar track.
i built three of these guitars, the first for a friend, and this one you hear I made for my daughter who fell in love with the first one I made.
As I was working out the bugs (intonation and action/ playability) I came up with the foundation for this song. I decided to record it with vocals and drums because it spoke to me.
The words are about her and her sister and what free spirits they are, and how hard it is to be a divorced father living in a different state and missing them so much.
It's brand new, I recorded it last week.
Thank you for asking, this song means a lot to me. :)

Side note:
Kris and I have been communicating over the development of this track over the last 24 hours.
Kris lives far enough away that commuting to practice is only practical maybe once a week.
She has come up with some epic accompaniment which will require a slight rearrangement which means I will be recording a new version of sisters (today, actually) I am setting up the mics right now and should have the song in the can by tonight.
We will be releasing our version under 'Zeman Ruckus' Along with a ton of other new material we are working on.
I will keep this current version of Sisters as it is on my Noah Spaceship page though, as it fits neatly with my modest catalogue of tunes I have here at IMP.

Wow - so I'm not clever about creating instruments at ALL, but read your post carefully and if I'm understanding it right, the creation of the instrument actually helped to create the song! That appeals to me no end. Looking forward to whatever the final version turns out to be, but I'm so glad you're keeping the simple instrumental track on your page. I really loved it - so hypnotic and great sounding. The image is just gorgeous too. Your daughter is quite the artist - and musician too?

My daughter plays sax and guitar. Her profession is 3D modeling.
And yes, the song would never have lived without the guitar.
I'm excited for the Kris version, she is amazing.
