Cover Collaboration
Just finished and posted "It's Time" - collaboration with Duane Flock of a cover tune by Bryon Tosoff. Great working with them!

Just listened and really enjoyed it. Of course it's about one of favorite subjects. :)

Strangely, there is a bit of syncronicity going on here because in a few hours IMP is going to take a big leap forward and this song now will always remind me of this day.

Great vocals, Delores - reminds me of Debbie Harry!
Bryon - Great composition
Duane - loved the guitar work

Wonderful collaboration among some of our finest artist members. Congrats!

Delores - I didn't see the song on your page. I took it from one of the stations.

Although not strictly a cover, I added it to my cover station and although not strictly an instrumental, I added it to my instrumental station. Gotta stretch the rules, sometimes!

Ohhhh I've been waiting for this one and it does not disappoint. What a great effort between you guys !!! Each talent shines through. Vocals, guitar, and keyboard blended.

and with Scott's post how timely to post a song "it's time"

makes me want to stand up and clap but that looks pretty silly by myself in front on my computer. Hell I might do it anyway great work.

Ken

I was amazed when I heard the final track too!

I started with a bass riff, then a U-2 kind of rhythm guitar style. The intro was a full minute and took half of the original song time. So I tried different styles of lead and felt the "Craig Chaquico" style fit best with the laid back direction of the song. I had asked Dolores to lengthen the vocals and add another verse. Dolores and Judy loved the guitar work and decided to make an instrumental style song.

I'm really happy with the production work and the overall way the song came out.
Thanks Dolores and Judy and of course Bryon for a great piece.

D.

Hahaha - Duane - I know, it sort of went it's own way there. We were totally all on the same page about the tune. I wrote words for a second verse and everything. But hey, if it ain't broke don't fix it. You played so great :)

Scott - thanks! and wow on the synchronicity of things. The Stat Cave is amazing and such a cool surprise. I know it's supposed to be more important to do the music than to care what everyone else thinks - but I'm addicted. I love to look at stats. Also great to see Bryon's song on Featured Songs!

Thanks for bending the rules, Richard and adding it to 2 great stations of yours. Sorry you had to search around to find it - at least it had the correct title this time hahaha. I was a lazy bitch not to put a link right in the post. So glad you liked it. (Debbie Harry!! I'm beyond flattered)

Ken - thanks for the applause! I'm taking a virtual bow. Your support is so encouraging. Thanks for that too.

so shoe city after I heard this work and it was really great it made me question something. Do you think that you work harder on a song like this that is a combined effort than you would your own song? I think when I do work involving others I pay more attention.

The blend on this has great energy and I really enjoyed it.

Actually, Ken - we work on all tunes in the same way - keep doing version after version till it sounds right. The goal is to have a groove throughout, every note count and no one have to tolerate any part of the tune. Sometimes that happens easy and right away, and sometimes it takes a while. And of course it's so subjective. What we consider the perfect version may annoy the hell out of someone else haha. We never did a collaboration before and this did take us a while, but luckily Duane and Bryon were so completely cool and patient about it - both such great musicians - we were lucky to work with them.

awesome shoe city I love it. I never post anything until I think its ready to be heard either but sometimes in the early stages of a song I let things slide to get the idea then refine the shit out of it.
