The site was down for parts of Wednesday because of a failing hard drive on a database server. First we were told that the drive was being swapped, and then we were later advised that they decided it was something with the chassis itself that caused the problem so they had to totally replace the server. That, once undertaken, took some time. Once there was new functioning hardware the SQL Server software and then the database itself, had to be loaded following which it all had to be tested, and that all took additional time.

Now that we have experienced this, we've decided to create a mirrored database on another server so that if one fails we will switch to the other one until any problem is resolved. The mirrowed database is currently being created.

thank you 4 the heads up. I was wondering what was going on. Also great idea about the clone server, i'm sure we will find that to be a great asset all around.
hope the hardware issues didn't make you all pull out your hair. thx to the tech team and once again for the communication.
