Eleanor Rigby ~ ideas...
Please let us know your thoughts on Eleanor!

Love this song but didn't want to record it just to record it so I nervously set out to change it. I mean it is a Beatle song so how was I... ever going to improve upon this masterpiece...? well... 1st I had our drummer lay down a metal drum pattern and the rest basically happened from that session. String parts I wrote out originally to be recorded as an instrumental song (but that was boring lol) so had our keyboard player, Greg Strohman, perform it with his Roland strings, teaming up with vocalist... fresh out of high school, Mariah Belgrod, who with her supple perfect pitch added yet another dimension to the hard opulent metal drums by Alex Koppenheffer. Brought in Guitar Center salesman, "the local area metal guitar master," Dan Van Volkenburgh, to play the solo on Eleanor Rigby and this popish brit metal version was born! I like to think of this arrangement as the result of ying and yang, metal and pop... -jim

All I can say is.... awesome, amazing, out of this world, stupendous, incredible, amazing (guess I said that already. Anyway, you get the idea). Seriously, in my mind you (Mariah and the band) blew the original away, and I really like the original. I love how it has the hard edge but it doesn't feel like it's going out of its way to be "metal." It feels completely natural, and I find it draws extra attention to the richness of the lyrics. Bravo!

Thank you Thank you for the kind words GWD when you are imposing an idea of music, over what the Beatles themselves agreed upon, and change it to what other people say they like... is really... the greatest compliment one could receive! Mariah made it happen!!! -jim
