Original jazz composition-acoustic piano.

I know most do up big ass productions here and are pros and adept at it, this is where I am at, this is organic happening live performance worth dropping here.

this is what I do on the odd occasion I do some playing for special events plus a whole wide range of styles. To me this is what it is all about. laying it on the line in front of an appreciative group of people who dig this vibe. cheers

Hey Byron,
Man you can sure play them bones. When I hear this song in parts it takes me back to being a kid and seeing Linus of the peanuts just wailing away at the piano having a blast. I like it for what it is a free form jam with some pretty cool elements.

It was nice to hear just a jam. Things don't have to be so refined all the time.
Maybe someday parts of it will work into an organized song I hope so.
TSC,
Ken

Thanks Ken. for your compliment and liking the tune.

In defense of the song or perhaps my take on it, I spent a lot of time building this tune and getting all the parts together. i just did not throw it together , I play it pretty much the same way every time I perform the song

not sure how much you do jazz or listen to people like Rachel Z or Herbie Hancock chick corea, even Keith Jarrett, I have been compared to their styles at times, not that I meet their abilities , but working towards that end with some of my jazz grooves and feel.

There is definitely structure with a reoccurring theme happening throughout the song, there is some improvisation here and there in that composition of course but it is mostly a structured song with a series of different parts weaved together , it is actually a pretty complicated piece in a few places and requires a great deal of technical ability to lay those chops down properly.

Radio
actually this tune has been featured on Jazz stations in Canada, CBC and some USA stations and was featured on a South Africa jazz station and has had some good reviews from those in the jazz community , so the cats in the jazz end of it get it, it is NOT for everyone, very few really get into this type of material. So there you have it, me defending it like a lawyer. lol

No offense intended when you said it organic happening I thought it was a jam that just happened . Jazz is not my style and I don't listen to much of it but there were parts I did enjoy in your song.

Bryon,

If there was ever any doubt about your Jazz compositional prowess, it surely gets destroyed with this fine work of art. Sometimes you really annoy me. I say that affectionately because I so envy how great you are at playing those keys. When I grow up (as a musician) I want to be able to play like you man. Wonderful arrangement and awesome playing. You are Jazz personified!

Much Respect,
Stoneman

I don't normally listen to jazz. I can easily respect it though for how much skill is required to pull this stuff off. But man this tune's great! There's no way I can criticize anything: the piano sounded flawless, there's no mixing issues seeing as it's only piano, it's not repetitive, and kept me listening! The only things I could say against it would be purely subjective. For what it is, I don't see a way to improve it. Come play this down in Memphis some day, thanks for sharing!

Thanks Rob, that means a lot. and tip of the hat to Stoneman and Ken for listening and liking and taking the time to comment. and everyone else, no jazz is not appreciated nor does it measure up to getting recognized here in the way it should at IMP. or should I say my vibe, nonetheless, I keep making music, cause someone will get some joy out of it. cheers

This is freeakin' great. You definitely got this.
Jazz is something I've been feeling more along with the onset of old age, I guess.
Of the 4 or 5 tracks of yours that I've heard, this one takes the cake by a wide margin.

thanks Daniel, that is my forte, I will never reach the plateau some of you guys and gals have in production, I am a player, piano man ,do instrumentals, written loads of classical pop and jazz, played a ton working my chops practicing hard to get there, and out at venues, now I dont work it out as much at live entertainment, but teach it , its my bread and butter, make good coin, but that aint the point, pure satisfaction teaching people my brand of piano, all kinds of styles, personally the piano is so organic and it lives and breathes like me when I am at the keys, its my home
