Look - up inthe sky! It's a bird...it's a plane...it's big fat guy in red and blue spandex!

Jimi Powers channels Brian May on lead electric guitar, Jeff Leece on plump bass, Phil Janzen plays his ass off on drums, Mindy Nilson making me swoon on backing vocals, and me on lead and backing vocals, acoustic and electric guitars, piano, keyboards, and de rest - and of course, the incomparably awesome Mike Bolenbach engineering the super angst. Thanks, Mikey! (BTW, I have included the unused lyric about Spiderman even though it isn't in the final - enjoy it, bootleggers)!

This song came from my wondering about my next door neighbors and went off from there...because, if I think I'm some kind of superhero (which of course, I do - just ask my wife) who do they think they might be? Batman? The Green Hornet? Catwoman? Maybe we all think we're superheroes at heart, out to save the world from Brainiac or Lex Luthor - but the ones who say it out loud get thrown into a rubber room. Well, bring on the padded cell, Ma!
Superhero (Slater) ©2007 BMI I know I used to feel I was the Man of Steel And in a single bound I could win renown In my hometown So every day after I crushed some crime I’d always find the time to change into the milder me It’s my secret identity Chorus 1 Only superheroes need to cross the line I’d show you if you drop your kryptonite onto the ground I’ve never seen an element that hurt me every time But this Superhero’s starting to give ground And Lois Lane is mad enough to run me out of town! My next door neighbor thinks he’s really Mighty Thor Won’t open up the door and what is more no one cares What’s going on upstairs You say you have the right you’re staying out all night Those criminals you fight "when I'm dressed up as Supergirl" From another world Only superheroes have to take the dare I’d show you if you drop your kryptonite onto the ground I’ve never seen an element that hurt me it’s not fair This Superhero’s starting to lose ground And word is that the citizens will run me out of town I know a rabid fan he thinks he’s Spiderman Swinging overhead’s a pain the only web he’s got is In his brain And every day he’s surfing on the Net Hasn’t found just what he wants to yet But it’s plain to see he’s just like me x
