Tane Mahuta
McPhun was born and raised in the seaside town of Ventura, CA. Eventually his hunger for travel and new experiences led him to his newfound home away from home. New Zealand has offered Ryan its mountainous South Island, rugged beaches and the North Island’s enchanted forests, to which Ryan replies with sounds he has borrowed and fashioned from machine, Manuka trees and many a musical instrument. Although New Zealand is somewhat isolated in the southern most part of the Pacific Ocean, Ryan has remained true to his buccaneer instinct. He and his Dictaphone (portable tape recorder) have ventured into the wilds of Africa, the ancient monasteries of Thailand, and the haunting landscapes that surround his everyday.
In 2004 McPhun gathered some like-minded Kiwi wanderers and formed the band Ryan McPhun and The Ruby Suns. He also enjoyed stints in various Auckland-based pop groups including The Tokey Tones, The Reduction Agents, and The Brunettes, with whom he toured the US with The Shins and Rilo Kiley both in ’05. McPhun also plays drums, percussion and background vocals on The Brunettes recent Sub Pop release Structure and Cosmetics.

Renee has also written a musical called Seacliff, Demise of Ward 5, which surrounds the tragic events of the fire in 1942 at Seacliff Asylum, near Dunedin, which claimed the lives of 37 women. Renee hopes to see it produced in the near future and is looking into several avenues that may see that happen.
As well as focusing on her own career, Renee continues to lend her talents and support to the Charitable organization with StarJam whom, she has performed on numerous occasions, including the recent Halberg Performance in January.

On 22nd February 2011 at 12.51pm , the city of Christchurch was staggered by a 6.3On 27th February 2011, the city of Christchurch was staggered by a 6.3 magnitude earthquake which demolished much of the town centre, trapping many people in buildings, demolishing iconic buildings, killing many in the streets with falling rubble.
Many of the citizens have left town as the aftershocks continue-this song is a call of hope for those who call Christchurch home!

He's spent most of his life behind a guitar - singing and pickin', from campfire circles to concert stages. Guitarist and vocalist DON BURNHAM is best known as the bandleader of LOST WEEKEND Western Swing Band (since 1985).
Born in San Francisco (June 3, 1947), DON was raised on the SF Peninsula, and he attended the University of California, where guitars, music and songwriting ultimately prevailed over other studies.
Drafted by Uncle Sam in 1968, DON served in the US ARMY/Korea. He worked for a time in New York City at the National Broadcasting Company (NBC) as a news assistant, before returning to California and the West Coast music scene. DON supported his music habit by working as a seasonal park ranger, where he developed his musical program known as 'Songs and Tales of California and the West'.
After years as a folksinger, troubadour, songwriter, and bandleader, DON'S overriding interest in swing music and traditional jazz produced his NEW CENTURY JAZZ BAND, and also the Western Swing outfit LOST WEEKEND. Ultimately these two bands 'merged' (1991). The modern Western Swing band known as LOST WEEKEND today is internationally recognized as one of the leading lights in contemporary Western Swing. DON was inducted into the Western Swing Hall of Fame in 2005.
DON continues today performing with LOST WEEKEND, as well as with smaller subsets of the group (the BOLOS, the OVERALLS) and also as he began, with just his Martin guitar.

This song is frickin cool. Can totally identify with making some great music with whatever recording equipment you've got, and the low budget sound adds to the kick assedness of this song. It's groovy, distinctly European sounding, and would probably be a great car ride tune. The guitar hits give an awesome rhythm to move to, only to be dropped and replaced by some disembodied guitar soloing out of any kind of formal structure, which works perfectly in this song. The song then rebuilds and deconstructs itself a few times while always maintaining its overlaying smooth sound. Just a great listen.
