Howdy, it's HUGH HAMILTON here, posting the latest news from Joe. I had the good pleasure and fun of going into the studio at happenin' Philly station WXPN a few days ago as part of the entourage with Joe's band THE DEAD MILKMEN. The band played a set including their first new songs in years (perhaps to get the full studio treatment later this year) and were interviewed. The fun was recorded for future broadcast in online and airwave form PLUS some video was shot and will be posted online as promo. I got to hang out in the control room and offer my two cents on sonic issues - it was a good time and will be a good listen.

(I just posted a pic I snapped of the band in the studio, it's on the Joe Jack Talcum artist page slideshow)

HERE'S THE LATEST NEWS FROM JOE - thanks for reading and keep on rockin'!

Joe Jack Talcum News * Issue #7 * March, 2010
===================================================

Greetings, everyone!

I hope you are staying warm this winter. I had a great time on my tour of the 'Huge Bicycle Tour' of the southwest U.S. (where it was not so warm as I'd expected) with DJ Jester The Filipino Fist, The Bassturd, and the inimitable Lord Grunge. Thanks to all who came out to the shows. For those of you in the Midwest, I have a tour coming up in April that will cover that part of the country. And I have some shows in the tri-state Pennsylvania-New Jersey-Delaware area this month.

But first, I have some Dead Milkmen news.

The Milkmen got together last Sunday to record a short live set and an interview for the local Internet and HD radio station Y-Rock at XPN's studios. The program is scheduled to be aired on the HD channel of WXPN (88.5) here in Philadelphia and on the Internet stream of Y-Rock on Sunday, March 7 between 7 and 9 PM Eastern Time. (Our segment will air at 8 PM.) The show is called 'Y-Rock Philly Local'. We performed 4 new songs (including two that we debuted at our Halloween show in Philly last year) as well as some classics in between answering some questions. Check it out if you have time next Sunday.

In other Milkmen news, an interview with the Dead Milkmen by Justin Telephone appears in the current issue of Razorcake (issue #54). You can pick up Razorcake at any good record store or book shop, or you may mail order from their Web site. The mail order price is $3 plus $1.50 for shipping in the U.S. (The cover price is $4.)

The Bootleg of the Month for March has been posted. It is yet another complete Dead Milkmen live show. This one is the only show I have, so far, representing our first European tour. I remember being miserable and cold for the first few weeks of the tour, criss-crossing Germany. This recording was made at our stop in Hamburg.

This coming Friday, March 5, I'm performing solo acoustic in Jersey City, New Jersey at a fine little restaurant bar called The Iron Monkey. If you're in the area check it out. The kitchen closes at 10 PM. The show will start at around 11 PM. I'm told the Iron Monkey is the best bar in the area and boasts a large menu of locally brewed and national quality beers.

In the middle of the month I'm doing a little mini-tour with the psychedelic surf-punk band Mirrors and Wires.
Friday, March 12 - an undisclosed location in New Brunswick NJ
Saturday, March 13 - Dogfish Head Brewpub (Brewings and Eats) in Rehoboth, Delaware
Sunday, March 14 - The Terrordome, Philadelphia PA

Near the end of March I have a solo acoustic show in Philly with No! Go! Tell! You might recall that I was the guitar player for No! Go! Tell! and performed four shows with the band last year. Sadly, I had leave the band earlier this year due to my vigorous solo touring schedule. They found a fantastic replacement for me named Pat Pending (who was a member of the band Plow) and this show will be their first with this new line-up. I encourage everyone to check out No! Go! Tell! and if you can make it to the show on March 22 that would be great. It's a Monday night, and there are a couple out of town bands on the bill too: Gateway District and That's Incredible.

Monday, March 22 - The Ox Warehouse, 1627 2nd Street, Philadelphia PA

Finally, I am going to perform a benefit show at the end of March for Shayne Miel who fronts a band called The Future Kings Of Nowhere and who has stage four b cell lymphoma and no health insurance. The benefit is being held in Parlin, New Jersey at Buddies Tavern. It starts at 7 PM and costs $10.

Saturday, March 27 @ Buddies Tavern, 277 Johnson Lane, Parlin NJ

In April I will be touring in the mid-west. I will have a back-up band for this tour, though I will also perform some songs solo acoustic. The band will include Samuel Locke-Ward and some of his Boo-hoos. Sam and the Boo-hoos will also perform. The tour dates are as follows:
