Orange Wizard – Silver Witch

International

A few collaborations have come and gone including Orange Wizard – Silver Witch which appears to be on its last legs and probably deservedly so. The girls just aren’t sending many files and I can’t say that I’ve ever given the project much attention other than giving it a push at the start. If you check it out and want to be involved, it doesn’t really matter where you live. You can be in the band as long as you’re active and have the ability to send your files. We’ll shape them on the myspace page and use that profile as a meeting place for our ideas. I think Bambie is about to drop out. Cheeky may stay on. Otherwise, we’re definitely looking for people who programme drum tracks or do strange things with guitars. It’s an ‘open source’ music project. Get involved by all means. I don’t even care if it becomes a country and western band, as long as I like the people. And yes, when I say it doesn’t matter where you live, I mean it. There’s a myspace page if you want to take a quick tour. Google it and see if you have what it takes to send those sounds to the next level. If anything, I’d like it to become much harder.

Shank + Band?

Sydney

Closer to home, I’m looking to expand the Shank thang. I’m playing with the idea of doing gigs. I’d be very interested in people who can play a number of instruments. It’s tough to sing and play bass so I’m definitely into hearing a few bass players who have a unique slant and don’t mind banging out a few tunes on my acoustic. Here’s my wishlist:

Tuned percussion
A sampler
Electric bass
Acoustic bass
Acoustic guitar
Harp
Strings: violins, violas, cellos
Vocals
Drums

Can one person do all that? I think it might be possible so if anyone hears about the right type of collaborator, I’d like to hear from them. They should be comfortable with hard liquor and drugs, otherwise it won’t work. I’d be up for a jam with any scummy, experienced alcoholics, but would also consider the young wacky child prodigies as well.

This is just for Sydney folks, obviously.

We’re also looking for a sound guy who wants to do a bit of recording.

I guess I’m calling out for my own version of the ‘Bad Seeds’ but rest assured, something amazing will happen on stage this year. I don’t intend to do anything conservatively.

If you’re interested in shaping a very unique stage show and an innovative debut album, send me a bit of mail ; shankgodleybutcher@gmail.com

Don’t be tame. We’re gonna rip the heart out this city.
