Hi mate

welcome to this amazing sound community!

Now I'm sure you know what happened ---to the world ---not just America!!!!!

here's a version----

--- your (and our) politicians were brainwashed into economic fundamentalism at the Chicago school of economics so the rich could take even more of your money over time-----until they spent so much that the country / world went bankrupt-----

---and now the rich want you to give them ALL the taxes collected for Hospitals, schools, pensions and infrastructure----and give it to big business so they can keep living in the manner to which they are now accustomed-

----and you probably voted for this???

have a great day!!!!

"hey hey wall st. bound
the writing's on the wall and all around
ious are out on the town,
obama ain't about foolin' around...

hey hey throw big parties, pop the cork,
just remember robert bork..."
"water boy" http://iacmusic.com/songs.aspx?SongID=73831

What a super off the cuff summary, silverdood.

Your post mentions the Chicago School...

A leader of the Chicago School was Robert Bork. This is a guy, who if memory serves, suggested doing away with social security and unemployment benefits, because not mentioned by the founding fathers in the Constitution...

So far, Obama's doin' really well basically, and he's popular with the voters. Last week, he signed a bill that prevents credit card companies from charging arbitrary late fees and jacking up credit card rates to around 30% without any warning, even if you signed on at lower rates...

Silverwood and Steve,,,What great comments,,,,I would be proud to have you as friends. Marduc does thank you . Steve ,,I know Obama was working on Visa(Satan) and his buddies the beast (Mastercard) and the false prophet(Amex). However,,,none of these illusory fixes will have any effect till we are beaten into submission to the all powerful credit card. They are just to pacify the weak (us) so we will think they care about us.

If there are positives we can make in these economically challenging times, we could learn from those who've lived through tough times before. My papa taught if we had to pay by credit we should try to pay more each billing cycle and make every effort to not live beyond our means. He said if you get into debt, pay it off and don't take on more if at all possible. Wise ideas for these times as well I believe.

sage advice! Unicorn!

---1987 was the year NZ took aboard these "Free Market" policies----which of course is a total misnomer---both Right and Left wing mainstream parties have followed these since that time----hence my saying ----

"you probably voted for it"

Silverwood, primarily I value a different system which is one based on ethics, care, mutual respect, honor and love. These values drive my time above paper or plastic. If I had been allowed to vote on the way our monetary system was tied to the oil market decades ago or to the federal reserve and bailout then the answer would be most vehemently, no.

I hear you ----I voted for the Green Party

---here in NZ we have MMP( Mixed Member Proportional)----basically the small parties lean towards one of the Majors, so we still get the Main parties (National or Labour) which have similar economic policies, calling the tune!!
---- I don't see much hope for change, even with Obama in office---I hope I'm wrong btw!!

When we fill up our air bottles at the firehouse, we do it by connecting them to a series of tanks of compressed air; called a "cascade system".

Each of these tanks has a different amount of pressure in them, and that amount changes with each fill, ...we have to write the pressure of each one on the side of the tank with a piece of chalk after each fill...

They are all connected to each other through a manifold, and the idea is to hook up your bottle, then slowly open each tank's valve one at a time, starting with the one that has the lowest pressure, and working your way up to the highest pressured one.

As each tank is opened the pressure between it and the bottle equalizes, then you shut both the bottle and the tank, and repeat the process with the next highest tank...

One of the most important steps they teach us, is to double check to make sure that the previous tank's valve is completely closed before opening the next tank, because if any two of the tanks are ever opened up at the same time, the pressure in the highest tank would decrease, and the pressure in the lowest one would increase, until the pressure between them was equalized, and the high pressure needed to get those last few breathes of air into each bottle, would be wasted by being used to raise the pressure level of the other open tank.

And sometimes, it's those last few breaths that make all the difference.

I have very little understanding of the "Global Economic System" and how it works, but in an abstract way, it seems like connecting our long developed capitalist western economies with under, or less developed countries economies like China, India, Korea etc..., is providing these countries with an increase in wealth, and conversely providing us here with a decrease; as the different pressure levels in the tanks trend towards equalizing.

Maybe it's what has to happen for some of the people in those places to have a little bit of a place to be.

I mean, yeah times are hard, ...but we're not sitting here helplessly watching as our kids starve to death, ...in some other places they are.

America's never been about wealth anyway, ...we've had it lately, and it's been nice, but it's not necesary, it's not needed, and it's never been guaranteed to us. It's certainly not "who we are"

America, and Americans are better defined as people working hard enough, smart enough, long enough, and tough enough ...to overcome the many adversities we've faced along the way.

We're a nation of immigrants, most of whom came here without a nickel in their pockets, and nobody ever stood there on Ellis Island handing anything out to them when they finally got here either.

Americans have always scratched and clawed their way to any success they've had.

Whether it was enduring the winter at Valley Forge, carving a homestead out of the wilderness, crossing the fields at Gettysburg, carrying their families along the Oregon trail, digging our way out of the great depression, cutting our boys out of sunken tombs at Pearl Harbour, storming the beach at Normandy, standing toe to toe with the Red Chinese and the Soviet Union, watching our leaders fall, our shuttles explode, our forests burning, our towers falling.

We've been through it all, we'll get through this too. And not just surviving, but thriving.

The adversity's always been there, every step of the way, while Jefferson was writing, or Lincoln was talking, while the Wright Brothers flew, while Henry Ford was building his assembly line, while a crippled FDR clutched the podium to hold himself erect., while JFK set his sights on the moon. While Bobby bled.

America's economic model has created untold wealth both here and abroad, wealth that's fed Billions, and there have always been bumps along the way, ...I mentioned the great depression earlier, but there were plenty more, there was double digit unemployment and inflation in the seventies, shortages in the fourties, riots in the sixties, floods, earthquakes, wars, plane crashes, shootings, scandals, impeachments, disease, stock crashes, terrorism, poverty, even Michael Bolton, ...it's always been there, it's nothing new, it's just never gotten the best of us, ...and this won't either.

Nothing happened to America, ...at least nothing we can't handle.

of course ymmv! ;-)

Follow the money that,s what,s happened to USA... where,s all the money gone?. It,s the oldest trick in the book to create a socialist republic keep em poor keep em hungry. It,s like a giant jigsaw puzzle made of cotton wool you don,t know where the start is and you don,t know where the end is. Although scheming folk are easy to spot once you know who they are and brought into the light of day for everyone to see who they really are. It does not matter how complex or elegant there plan,s are,so it goes on and then and then and then and then............

America the way I know it being born and raised in this country. It's never been what you know, it's who you know. The big fish have always eaten the little fish before they could grow and create their own pool of success. Greed has always been the main course that has devoured the ambitions of those wanting to get ahead. Jobs have been leaving this country for a long time. This is not a new occurence, the difference is that people have woke up. America has been sleeping and now the soul of the countries eyes have opened to the reality of truth. We have lived a lie for long time and now the truth has been exposed. For those who do work for a living I pray and hope the nature of things improve for the sake of your families and children who are our future. And for those needing work, I pray you find the work and resources necessary to support your loved ones. We must come together and network to help one another overcome these challenging times. That is the Spirit of America! Yes we can......
