the ubiquitous Ray Porter
Hi, I'm not trying to be mean or sarcastic, let me clear this up in advance.

But, what is the deal with all the Ray Porter on this site? He's everywhere.

Not only does he post many songs (which is fine, he's got every right), but it seems like EVERY other station is a Ray Porter-run station.

It's a little, eerie?

Just wondering. Ray, you might be the best person to answer this question.

SSSHHH!! do not speak of the great one in such a way! lol

I thought the same thing when I started on this site - particularly the two tone drawing of Ray in blue and white - made me think I was joining some sort of cult & Ray was the leader. :o)

However, the truth is Ray is a gentleman and a very nice chap indeed. He is all over the site largely due to the fact that he has so many songs and is one of the most active artists on IAC.

the last two points (prolific and active) were what I figured. I was beginning to think I was going mad.

Aside from posting my own music, I'm also here to listen. So I'd go browsing other stations, and it was strange. Didn't I just visit this station? Every station I clicked seemed to be one of his stations. I had no idea if I was on a new station or not.

Again, Ray, if you're reading, I meant no disrespect, just sort of wondering what the story was...

When I came on the site first, I quickly learned that Ray spends a lot of time listening very carefully to material as it appears, and then posts it on a site alongside other songs in the style of Amazon's 'people who liked this also liked...' It didn't take much longer to see that he has a fine critical ear, and for a while, I tended to gravitate towards his stations as being quality-assured. But there's more: he is very, very generous with his time and ears, and has done a lot to encourage people like me to get more songs posted. And to make him even more annoying, he's both a prolific songwriter and a very good one. I believe Ray is the spirit of IAC personified: caring, sharing and a bit daring. Brian

I don't know what I could possibly add to Brian's response but I'll try! If you become acquainted with Ray you will discover what it means to meet a true friend, and an overall great person. He is one hell of a songwriter as you will also soon discover and is eager to help others as well. Ray introduced me to this site after I met him at garageband. He will probably never know how much I appreciate it. IAC is THE place to be. The people here are top-notch in talent and professional courtesies, and leading the pack is our very own...Ray Porter.
Please do yourself a favor, visit his page, grab a song or 30, and introduce yourself!

Ray is one of the most giving souls here and well deserving of my respect.
