Math: the language of God, which makes Music....
It's true. You see, the way physicists understand the machinations of the Universe is written and explained in mathematical terms. Therefore, that would make Math "The Language of God", no?
So, given that Math is, in fact God's language, and that music is rhythms and frequencies that only make sense to the ear when broken out in specific mathematical ways, I propose that music is, in fact THE VOICE OF GOD. That God speaks to us through musicians and the music that they (we) produce. Of course, as God is within all pieces of His creation, that would make this possible, no? And that would also explain why a particularly beautiful piece of music has such strong power to move us and affect our emotions so strongly. He is speaking with us; through Us.
The "better" pieces of music that move more people more greatly, are simply pieces where the composer was more in-tune with the Universe and more locked in with their Creator.
It also explains, to me, why virtuoso musicians can always be appreciated, but only spiritually moving to a small number (Yngwie Malmsteen?). And why seemingly incompetent musicians can be emotionally moving to the same number of people (or more) as the pure technician, or even moreso for those who can hear past their apparent incompetence and be so moved, emotionally (Daniel Johnston?). But the combination of supreme competence/virtuosity and composition is undeniable. (Beethoven, The Beatles, Mozart, Beach Boys)
Just a theory.
But one that I believe strongly, as both a spiritual and pragmatic person.
Discuss, if you want.
If I have offended anyone here, I do apologize. That was not my intention.
