Thanks for this, I've always thought Steve was the epitome of an indie artist, his songs are original and interesting and I enjoy his videos too. He is like the Peter Pan of Pop! I'd have liked to know more about his April/Ison collaborations. I do hope they'll be more interviews from the non famous artists just to make them a little more famous.

The only thing I can criticize is that the link should come first in the article. That way, people can listen, which is most worthwhile, while reading.

Thanx alot for aranging to do the interview Scott and the generous thoughts..Very much appreciated man ...Good questions too- and was interesting to do and see where my headspace is
Thanx too Amanda,Lyin' Dan
Amanda -Started working with Steve April after he introduced himself and suggested it at a now defunct OMD called Garageband -prob in '84..
There was a helluva lot of songs produced over a 2 or 3 year period..I liked his lyrics 'cos they were quirky, unpredictable, witty and very suited to writing pop songs to..I find very lengthy lyrics - harder to write to - and actually far less freeing in what you can do with the music..
The lyrics came at the right time for me -helping me experiment and become freer with unusual structures and also experiment with arrangements in recording..I definitely feel its improved me creatively - and it was alot of fun..
The purest song we did together i think was one of the very first collaborations Identity Thief...Not one lyric was changed from the original (excellent) lyric for the tune -It was exactly as sent..And the weirdness of the structure pushed me to do things structurally i'd never tried before..
