you know what gets me down?
Many music makers are so caught up in the craft of recording and producing that it seems like they can't just listen for pleasure anymore. They have on their mixer ears 24/7. I feel sorry for that crowd. Music means something different to them than it does to me.

I know where you're coming from Scott but for a lot of people... including me, it's just very hard to turn off the technical ear. It's like people who make movies and then watch a movie? They see all the hidden stuff that regular people don't see.
I've often told my friends that they don't know how lucky they are to be able to listen to a song and just enjoy the song or even at a concert. I enjoy music but yes I'm guilty of listening in another way. But that being said? I still know a good or bad song when I hear it. And of course this is just my opinion.

...but when you listen "with technical ears" and the song is STILL good then the pleasure is even greater.
It's like eating a cake that looks bad, it might taste good but you just don't fancy it.
