pipeline brainstorming session..
I had an idea yesterday. I ran into 2 serious indie music lovers who I am trying to bring to IMP. What I was wondering is, if we started some sort of group of listener/station managers, what kind of things could we do to spice things up for them here?
Please stick to the topic. :)

Well some things we already do like the big 25, station mash, and front page featured artists.
We could start a group more visible on the front page.
I'm not sure how this would work but if we could create a community station where anyone that could login could go to the community station and add songs instead of only the station manager.
We could do some sort of splashy show on impeccable radio program not sure what exactly would be on it but something to show them what they are missing.
I think Jay mentioned some sort of like system it does not have to be likes it could be stars or guitars or some sort or rating system that would allow listeners managers to rate artist that would show up on the station.
Yes I know some of these require programming. They are ideas brain storming. Maybe if they are not used they spark a better idea.

Back at mp3.com, they had something called the New Music Army, where promoters got a piece of the profits. While there are no real profits these days, I wonder what kind of cool page we could create for a group of these folks.

You're not gonna catch me again.
I'm not replying to any of these just to see it deleted later on.
Sorry bout that.

Well that in itself is an idea a new page for promoters.
Maybe if Byron is snooping around he will get a whiff of that.
You smell that Bryon? its got your name on it.

Steve,
wasn't deleted, it's still on my blog page. Just removed from the pipeline. See, we saved your words for posterity!

I like the idea of a communal radio station where we can all add songs. Maybe one per day for each member. Could be fun.

Wow Scott you onto something Larree agreed and didn't even cuss. I can't believe my eyes. (just kidding Larree)
I thought more about the promotions page thing. I think that could be really great sites like reverbnation have this sort of thing. It could be a way to bring promoters artists and possibly even advertisers together.
This would give artists resources they might not otherwise have. Anything from places that make banners and stickers for shows or booking agents to get gigs this could be very exciting.

Looking for some kind of original page concept. Something that celebrates the music lover.

What about some kind of listener lounge area. Decorated like a comfortable sitting space you know leather couchs give it a homey feel. The community station could be there if that was created.
A tagboard option could be on the page to allow listeners to post comments.

A listener lounge with couches and chairs? That is easy to do in Second Life. The resistance to SL is kind of sad because virtual reality environments are the future. SL and the virtual world is like a shiny new car with all the latest technologies and regular internet is like a 1987 Buick!

Larree I have enough problems in real life and things to do in real life that I don't really feel the need to live virtual life in second life but I guess some do.
I know this can be done in second life but we are talking about a listener area for indy music people site. so unless the lounge can be created in second life and some how imported or used here I don't see how creating the lounge in second life is helpful for this site.

It would be very helpful for this site because it is something different that no other music site offers. You are like the biggest complainer and you have not even tried it. You just keep on driving that '87' Buick.

Its not really something I have time for nor desire for. This would require the listeners to have a second life account outside of Indy music people login.
As you can see from the earlier thread not much action regarding second life here. Anything the requires additional work from the listener makes it less likely they are to do it.
Its a brain storming session so I'll shut up about it.

Yeah, that additional work gets ya every time. Us lazy fuck musicians would never want to do any extra work. Especially if it means meeting real music fans who just might visit the site if we put on some SL virtual concerts and directed them here for more.

How many indy music fans do you really think have second life accounts? or would want to create one? My guess is not many.
As I said in the second life concert thing that Scott posted I'm not against it but so far I have not seen any support for it other than from you and Scott.

Anyway, I have come from the future with suggestions that would bring in many new music fans, and maybe, more female music fans as there are a ton of females in SL. And you spit on it. I'm done suggesting. I'll just head on back to the future of music. The virtual world.

Maybe its a great suggestion I have no idea. You know way more about this than I do since I'm not involved in it.
Right now its brainstorming there is no bad ideas so if you have other ideas speak up. It will benefit us all. I will shut up and stay out of it.

I am done suggesting. It is sad that "artists" are so afraid to try something new.

What is sad is the pretty but nobody has participated at all while we sit bickering and one negative comment keeps you from making other suggestion is even more sad.

I am totally positive. It is too bad that you and others have nothing but negative things to say about something you have not experienced.

well we lost our main topic again here, I will probably take this thread off the pipeline. Anyway I have a friend I have yet to discuss this with who may be able to help. I like the idea of a listening lounge, just not sure how I'd go about that to make it cyber-interesting.,
Larree, would you please start a thread about second life telling all you can about the experience of playing live there?
