Station managers, please read, a survey
just wanted to get some ideas about what goes on in your process
1. If ;you write off an artist as being one you don't like, do you ever return and try them out again?
2. Does how you feel about the person from their persona on the pipeline or elsewhere play into what songs you pick for your station(s)?
3, How often do you listen to your station? Do you make it to the end, often?
4. Have you ever recommended the IMP station thing to music loving friends?

1. yup,not sure if it is a write off bu I have done this, but usually they go to a secondary station like old hits or like eYe 2, and have returned to primary station
2. Pipeline, ah possibly a few times when I guess something they said alienated me and maybe I didnt like a situation in a tete a tete, , but being the bigger person, and one not to hold grudges, I relent and be the awesome guy I am and they are rewarded for good songs.
3.I listen to some of my stations , but never get through it, although I know their are others who do. I will listen occasionally, I have posted them on facebook or twitter
4. That answer is yes and was answered in part to question 3
5. Reviews of the artists music are critical and probably my most important part of listening and appreciating what artists have to offer. I just dont like adding a song without at least something to say about what they have done. it looks naked with at least a few words, adding for the sake of adding is cool, to stream and listen ,thats what it is about anyways, good music.

1. yes, because things can change. The artist can add new members to their group the better production experience and Facilities, and playing just get better writing and performing.
2. No, I only consider the music itself, And of course to the other aspects of performance and presentation.
3. I listen often for my own pleasure and now that we have the opportunity to listen in the car and other places for mobile I listen even more than before.
4. Not only recommend them, but also show them.

I listen to loads of music here. have for over a decade or more , pretty much from the start, so that is longer then a decade, guess iac IMP been around for what, like 14 years or something, well yah, pretty steady guy around this joint, as some have as well. so that is a lot of listening. now, not as much as I have some of my own thing happening although manage to stop by, leave my thoughts on the pipe and listen and add new songs or prospect for older beauts. this is not part of the question thing, just some background on my habits around here. ok later

1. Yes, but it helps if I have some kind of reason to return like a recommendation to re-evaluate the artist.
2. No
3. Often but will listen more as time permits. I need to do some pruning. I rarely make it to the end and tend to listen in sections.
4. Yes

Hi Scott, Now that my station is up and running better, has more songs and artists, and is organized, I feel more qualified to answer your survey.
1. I try to listen to parts of at least 3-4 songs from an artist. If they are not my "cup-of-tea" I wouldn't say I "write them off" though. I would just move on because I know there are thousands of artists here, and I'll never know of the vast majority of them.
2. Well, I am way too new to the Pipeline, but if their persona as shown through their music is predominantly dark or disturbed, I would just move on. Like most humans I am drawn to people who uplift my spirit and inspire, rather than debase.
3. I am going to listen much more now. I became very weary of one music fan club, because I found I would rather listen to music than just talk about it most of the time. One fellow fan there though (you know who) has introduced me to incredible main-stream talent, mostly from Europe. but some here in America. Much of that is from the 90's and 2000's. So, I have been listening very heavily to some of those on YouTube. With IMP, I will again try to listen to some daily. Now that my station has 80 songs, that will be an all day affair, best for rainy days and winter weekends. Lets see: 80 songs x (an average of) 4 minutes each = 320 minutes, or 5 hours and 20 minutes. Next time I am in position to listen to it all, I'll time it; LOL!
4. I have recommended IMP to friends, but now I will really ramp that up. I'll send the url to my station and also the IMP home page. Exciting prospects! Thanks Scott! Mike

1. Yes, I try em again, and I listen to a ton of music here, have over 35 stations, spanning 10 years or so, but who's countin? An enjoyable experience, station-building, and I'd like to imagine helps create a broad, diverse perspective, both to listen and a musician. Osmosis maybe, like rain on the trees.
2. The music, not personalities is what moves me, music, music music.
3. Lately, been involved with other projects to a degree, however, hope to return, time time time, what is it, who's got the patent, wish I did...
4. I recommend listenin' to first rate indie music, plenty here on IMP, the best indie site on the web, awesome talent here, "there's gold in them thar hills."

1. Yes
Because my stations are mostly thematic. So I don't really think about my personal listening tastes. If your song fits the theme, as long as your recording is audible you have a good chance of making the playlist.
2. No
(See above)
3. Sometimes I listen. But not too much lately. At the present time, I am starting to write some new stuff and I tend to not listen to anything when I write.
4. I have in the past. And now that you guys are working to make the site more smartphone friendly I'm sure I will in the future.

The sad bit for me is some of the artists have passed on. A big one for me was Joe Strummer taken way to young.

1. I don't usually write off an artist as being one I don't like... other than by type of music, like Rap... say if THAT were to be their ONLY "type" of offerings. Although, I have "returned" and tried some "Rap" out again after hearing it on a station and then going from there back to the Artist's Page... and finding something "Station-worthy"... i added it to one of my stations.
2. No
3, Station? No. I do not visit "all" of them often... Some of them I will... Make it to the end? A few times, not often.
4. Yes.
