Arriving on the scene after all the anticipation and excitement has settled into a fine glow of completeness at the conclusion of the 2017 IAIA Golden Kayaks – the one and only of its kind indie music awards events – and what many might say has been one of the best Golden Kayaks to date, I’d like to offer a few words.

First, my sincere compliments and thanks to Scott for all the time, hard work, commitment and dedication in bringing the 2017 Golden Kayak event to fruition. A fine job done once again, Scott, among the many other duties you shoulder here at IMP.

Secondly, I offer my hearty congratulations to all nominees and winners in the various categories, and to all the members who participated in making nominations for the categories and for all those who took the time to cast their vote. There are no losers here either in the form of nominees or artists at large on the site.

At the end of the day, the membership has voted IMP – IndieMusicPeople.com as the over-riding winner.

IndieMusicPeople.com – ‘That’s who we are. That’s what we do”, better than any other indie music site on the internet, hands down!

Thanks so much again Scott for such a wonderful event and memorable night! IMP and its Artists, Station Managers, and Supporters are THE BEST!

This is not just music and entertainment for me. MUSIC is one of the biggest parts of my life, always has been, and always will be! Finding IMP on that fan club was one of the biggest breaks of my life. You know Scott, the chain of events that started for me. Christomir put a couple of Whitherward songs in his station and I followed suit.

The rest is history as I have developed a personal relationship with Ashley and Edward of Whitherward. Since Ashley is the active one on Facebook, I talk to her almost daily and most of my posts are about Whitherward. I have grown to deeply love Ashley as if she was my own daughter and she is well aware of that and returns the love right back to me.

2017 has been one of the most wonderful and happy years of my life and IMP and Whitherward have been such a huge part of that. Ashley told you and I on Facebook that she is in shock that they won Best Band and that The Anchor won Best Song Folk / Acoustic Rock / Americana.

I should apologize to anyone that saw how obnoxious I got on this thread tonight. You know me well Scott, and that it was in elation for those I nominated and my station artists. WHITHERWARD, FRANCESCA, RICHARD, DAVID, BRYON, CAT DOWLING, SHOE CITY SOUND.

I am really happy and proud that I voted for RIC LAUE in the WORLD Category (Native American Fusion sub-category). His winning song OMAHA was one song that I had never previously heard. Of course I am proud to live in Omaha, but even prouder of the Native American Omaha tribe that first inhabited this great land.

Yes Francesca, I have my final tally for you. I placed nominations in 24 of the 26 categories and 15 of my nominees won and that blows my mind! More for you and the others as I extend my congratulations in the artists' pages.

I love and appreciate all of you! Huge congratulations to all the Golden Kayak winners and nominees. You are all most deserving!

Congratulations for all the winners! I'm proud and thankful that I was nominated and happy that I get to be a part of this. I will listen to the podcast later today ( it's early morning here ).

Thanks to this site and this competition I've found great new music. I've always been a fan of indie and I used to go to gigs here in Finland, film them, upload to YouTube and tell all my friends about the great unrecognized.

One of those bands went from me being alone at their gig to Universal Music recording artist. It's important to the artist that in the beginning even one listener loves them truly. I've received that kind of love and support from this site and now when the indie's I used to love are either quit or busy with their success it's great I have new artists and bands I can tell my friends about and most importantly get excited about I've found from this site. Added them on my Station. My heart always feels a bit empty without indie. Thanks to Evie I found this site in 2016 and was rescued. I like mainstream too, but lately there hasn't been anything to get excited about for me in that area.

So thank you Scott and everyone here at IMP for everything! I already anxiously wait for this Year's Golden Kayaks and all the new songs. I hope mine will be ready to be uploaded in the spring.

To be honest, my first reaction was a surprise when I read the updated Fall Of Fame. I was 100% sure that Steve Ison would win Alternative Retro & Psychedelic with Velvet Dream because it has been 1# forever on that genre's chart. So wasn't surprised I didn't win. Congrats to David Nyro!

Also was really surprised that in Jazz ' Reinventing Me ' by Gail Marten Music didn't win. It was one of the best songs in 2017 for me.

In regards to the question about golden kayaks, there are banners on your pages. Only one time did we actually give out a real trophy, it was given to Pete Townshend on stage for his Golden Kayak. If you want to hear him accept it, here's the mp3. Pete championed us and got us in Rolling Stone and all that so we went the extra mile in that case. :)

She saw my grief and to help mend my broken heart, dedicated and sang "Music Monsters" to me via live feed from a concert in Colorado. Helps one to see why I love her and Edward aka Whitherward so much, eh? Anyway, I take some solace that Ray learned of the Moodies long overdue induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this May before he died.

Hello there Mr. David Nyro! Long time, no talk to, sir! It has truly been a Whitherwhirl 24 hours and I still have not caught my breath! I began to make the rounds of the artist's pages to offer my congratulations last night and you are the next man up! I have been Facebooking all day, helping Ashley and Edward to greet all their well-wishers. Ash and I and Scott have also been doing a little IMP recruiting and another one of Ashley's friends is an IMP artist as of today.

Lest our buddy Bluto bust my chops, you asked, so I will answer. If I do any bragging here, it is to brag on my artists. I indeed nominated you for all 4 of your Golden Kayaks, and you stepped up to the plate and hit a walk-off grand slam!!! Remember what I told you early on when I first added "Never Saw a Woman?" I told you that no one could ever "pigeon hole" you. Your 4 GK's last night in 4 genres are a direct result of your diversity and talents across the board.

2017 has been an incredible year for me both outside and inside of IMP. The prospects for 2018 really excite me. I can guarantee that you will remain a big part of it!

If she is miffed or upset with me for any reason, I just spin it on the "turn-table" and it puts to dragon inside of her to sleep. Owe ya big-time for that, my friend! :-)
