Stoneman, you prob'ly know George Clinton, from Parliament Funkadelic, took rhcp Anthony Keidas under his wing early on, and helped him gain confidence as a lead singer, according to Anthony, anyway, who's a huge fan of George C. Strange like two stream crossing, sometimes the happenin' best music happens that way.

Kinda like Jimi Hendrix doin' a Dylan song, and later :The Wind Cries Mary" with a Dylan atmosphere. (great song)

Maybe you'll consider posting the George benson video, or one of your favs here.

Hop on Pop I confess the only one n your list I'm familiar w is the Cars song lol...pretty eclectic.

Here's a video about the making of the video above lol...

Yes, George Clinton took a lot of artists under his wing and made them better. He even took the horn players from the James Brown Band and gave them a whole new genre to play. When I think of creative genius and mentorship, George comes up high on my lust. The man had 50 people on stage and they all worshipped him as the creator of P Funk. That is quite a distinction!

You ever been to a P-Funk show?
It's like a religious revival meets sci-fi epic. I think everyone needs to revere George Clinton as the creator of P-Funk!

Seem to remember a couple of them from cbgbs in the 70s...

i think we would be remiss on this thread if we didn't mention an indie artist in our midst who has made a point of including a featured guitar solo on virtually all of their songs. Same person even did a whole musical project centered around this collection of solos, which was innovative.

Dani California (rhcp)

'Gettin' born in the state of Mississippi
Poppa was a copper and momma was a hippie
In Alabama she would swing a hammer
Price you gotta pay when you break the panorama
She never knew that there was anything more than poor
What in the world does your company take me for?

Black bandana, sweet Louisiana
Robbin' on a bank in the state of Indiana
She's a runner, rebel and a stunner
On her merry way sayin', "Baby, what you gonna—?"
Lookin' down the barrel of a hot metal .45
Just another way to survive

[Chorus]
California, rest in peace
Simultaneous release
California, show your teeth
She's my priestess
I'm your priest, yeah, yeah

[Verse 3]
She's a lover, baby and a fighter
Shoulda seen her comin' when it got a little brighter
With a name like Dani California
Day was gonna come when I was gonna warn ya
A little loaded she was stealin' another breath
I love my baby to death

[Chorus]
California, rest in peace
Simultaneous release
California, show your teeth
She's my priestess
I'm your priest, yeah, yeah

[Bridge]
Who knew the other side of you?
Who knew what others died to prove?
Too true to say goodbye to you
Too true, too sad sad sad

[Verse 4]
Push the fader, gifted animator
One for the now and eleven for the later
Never made it up to Minnesota
North Dakota man was a gunnin' for the quota
Down in the Badlands she was savin' the best for last
It only hurts when I laugh
Gone too fast

California, rest in peace
Simultaneous release
California, show your teeth
She's my priestess
I'm your priest, yeah, yeah
California, rest in peace
Simultaneous release
California, show your teeth
She's my priestess
I'm your priest, yeah, yeah

Anthony's lyrics (in addition to great, lead, great bass, groovy drum lol), a reason the song's got over 125 M views on youtube imhv ...

So what indie creates memorable guitar riffs. The indie above that I mentioned has 4 songs entirely based on epic guitar riffs.
