Played flawlessly and well produced. My only critique if there is one to make is that the tempo seemed slow it made the song kind of drag. I am used to this song played faster so maybe its just not the way I am used to it.

Byron,
I can't place the song but this is a song that has been done before in Latin jazz.
Maybe subconsciously you covered it and did not know it. Its some kind of popular bossa nova type song I wish I could think of it.

Maybe I heard some one cover your song and I did not know it was your song with a faster tempo. I have heard it before faster. This version seemed slow.

there are similar songs all over Ken that will sound the same to some degree, agreed, and it is pretty simple, although the intertwining melodies give this piece a huge dose of originality, lets face it, i know how to do good melody lines, that is my forte, yet i mean how many times have we heard 3-4 chord songs in various keys but with great lyrics,(this being an instrumental, it has to stand on its own with a solid groove and some listenable and interesting sounding melody and percussion and on that subject, i find that sometimes songs can get too complicated, too over produced with layers of junk they become unlistenable. (this apparently is not a word) anyways point taken, all I know, I sat down a number of years ago and banged this off in one day. i worked probably 8 hours on it and was pretty happy with the result. and to top it off, it has been getting radio play for years now

Well I did say that it was "Played flawlessly and well produced. My only critique if there is one to make is that the tempo seemed slow"

That was my opinion. I think its great that you have radio success and I think you did the song extremely well. What ever song I heard that sounded like yours was faster.
I enjoyed your song but I'm not changing my mind it still seemed slow to me.

It sets a nice chillin' vibe. Everything's fitting together well. Would work out well under some opening credits as we're setting the first scene. Can't decide what the movie should be about.
I would say that as a piece towards which we should turn our complete attention, I'd like it to have more. There was actually the entrance of what sounded like a solo around 2:00, but it just disappeared within the over arching general riff that again seems to dominate through nearly the entire number. Could actually cut it back to the bass and percussion for a spell perhaps, and let the keyboard guy cut loose, then maybe come back and throw on some accompaniment or duet portions that complement the solo. Percussion could vary emphasis. Variation is important for a three minute work.
Definitely got some keyboard chops, but I think you probably have more that you're not showing, but that would spice this up.
Maybe Ken was thinking of the song by War, "Low Rider".

thats a good review of adding to it, I would have to pull the whole thing out review the stems and insert parts accordingly, I hate going in after though, it is like, ok, I am a surgeon , lets see what isnt wrong with this guy and just open him up just in case, then sewing him all up and leaving behind a pair of scissors lol

anyways , good points Daniel

I do know how it is when you've called something "done" and going back to fix things just seems like such a major pain in the ass, even when it really isn't.
So then I just keep the knowledge for next time. Yep, that next project is gonna be perfect...always... until I get sick of it and say &*&^ it...

yeah, I could do what you suggested Daniel,. and add in some parts, it is not a huge undertaking, i just think I would F**k it up and take away what is there, you have a good ear, and understanding and have done this enough to know and critique, me still learning, like I said, I am a neophyte, a luddite almost, still learning developing this part of the craft, a ways to go though , maybe have someone else add something, maybe a cool guitar thing perhaps, but i dont love it , it is like being divorced and trying to make it again with that old flame, lets try it again honey, we dont have to get married, just live together lol ./

Bryon,

This one is smooth as silk. Love that Latin beat and the synth work is tremendous. The production is flawless and this song just grooves you to the point of relaxation and peace. This is the kind of music I listen to when I am on the fishing bank or making a long drive. Excellent work and musicianship.

Much Respect,
Stoneman

Thx Stoneman. I guess each song is going to hit people differently, i listen primarily for the enjoyment on songs people post here and when I add to stations, I might offer some advice, but rarely, and of course songs here some may dig it others not, some may like parts and hear something in it I dont. and it depends on how you approach each song, I could say, perhaps, this could be a place for getting advice on an incomplete song and or searching for suggestions to improve ones workings, but I use it to get ideas on how it makes people feel, but not necessarily to change a song.

appreciate your feedback,

I found this song very entertaining, Bryon and I agree with you when you say "I use it (the R/C section) to get ideas on how it (a song) makes people feel, but not necessarily to change a song"

Not aimed at anyone here but I will say when I give reviews I say what it is that I think I hear. I don't think I'm an expert at anything but I offer my opinion. The artist is welcome to disagree with it or take away from it what they will. There is hardly any participation in RC to begin with so to see that some people are not appreciative of the reviewers time is discouraging to keep reviewing.

In my reviews I focus on production elements because not in all case but in some cases I feel that the production could have been better in a certain regard. Take for example I did a review for Stoneman and the vocal effect he used was not good. His first response was that the label accepted it how it was. Another person in RC agreed with my review that the vocal effect was not good. Stoneman went back and took the time to review it found the bad effect fixed it and wrote an entire blog thanking me and the other reviewer for pointing out something that was missed.

I will also say If I am not sure about it I will say something like this is how I heard it. (meaning I thought I heard something take a listen for yourself.)

so my advice is if you don't want comments then don't post in RC. If you post in RC and you get comments be thankful that someone even bothered to take the time or next time maybe that person won't. Which is a shame because as I said hardly anyone bothers here anyway but I guess the aim is to scare the few that do away. Because you might not want to hear what they have to say.

Two Silo Complex,
Ken

the link didn't work for me but I found the song on your page.

Maybe what TSC is talking about is a passing similarity to Oye Como Va.

I enjoyed this song as well. I think it would do well on some sort of soundtrack. The ending was a little abrupt.

Bryon I got to wondering if you ever dance to your music because this is very danceable. Good job!
