We really liked the acoustic /bluegrass oriented sound, vocals are written well ,sounds like your having alot of fun doing it ,to walk the line is really catchy .We'll have to get back to you soon wanna listen to the rest of your songs. good vibe!

4/13/2011 11:29:01 AM

Thanks for checkin' it out Mike. It means alot coming from you..really admire your musicianship in both the parts you play and how you play them. I know i had it a bit buried in the mix...lack of confidence i guess. I'm gonna try some cover songs to help me keep moving forward. My originals have seemed to sadly become few and far between these last few months.
Anytime you post a new tune please drop a link...always happy to stop by for a listen.

Cheers...Brother Pine

hey Mike! Thanks for the visit...great to hear from ya. Did indeed survive another winter but not here much.... but with the big change in ownership that may not be the case in the future. I'd love to see this site rise again to respect and prominence.
As for woodshedding with the bass..not near as much as i should have...but your advice was really excellent and i think i am making progress. i actually had the nerve to play it on my latest recording called Sago Mine. Slowly "getting it". Hard to believe it would be that different from guitar but for me it is. I'll post Sago Mine...give a listen if ya have time and see what ya think. Thanks for all your help Mike and continued support and enthusiasm....and Happy Springtime!!

Airplay...lots of gigs...and apparently minimal time for sites like this or Soundclick ( i see you are scarce there too!) Happy for you and the band...you guys are superb and i think your entries here will win. Couldn't happen to more deserving folks!
Life is good up here on the farm...busy but happy. Finished my second Cd over the winter, a blues rocker called Stray. Take care my friend...

Hi Mike and Co

Yeah it was a fun day -we played 4 sets to a very nice crowd of 2000-plenty of laughs-my kick drum stays on the stand ok -just loop the rubber through the pegbut it travels away from me across the stage, so I ended up tying it to my stool!!

now which song?

You know I learned to play one song on the banjo 100 years ago.. Rocky Top I believe. Never played it out but had a blast with it in the living room.

I love Lucky Star, love the vocal/vocal blends, I'm picturing ya'll playing it, having a blast. Wish I could see that.

My family and I LOVE the albums! Many many thanks! It will be our "dinner hour" music for some time to come, displacing Nat King Cole, Vince Guaraldi, and some friends called Then There Were Two...sweet!

Thank you for the comment on my song "When I Was a Little Boy". I was hoping it would evoke some emotion/memories for the listener.

From your comment, I guess it is "Mission Accomplished".

Thanks! Your comment means a lot to me and I really appreciate it!

Online collaboration can be accomplished but it works best under the following rules

1 Each person putting down tracks should be using the same software. So if you use reason, cubase, cakewalk, etc make sure all parties involved have this and its the same version.

2 Even though a lot of drummers resent it for an online collab its is best to have a click track. Stripe it so it can be removed in the final mix.

3 General rules for recording apply, Drums and bass are recorded first then rythme guitar, then lead guitar, then vocals, then backing vocals, then sound effects and any fillers etc.

If the tracks are small enough most software allows you to export by track so your drummer can do his track export it and emial it or burn it to cd and give it to the bass player the bas player does his thing gives it to the guitar player etc

What is most important for fidelity is that when each person records the tracks each track should remain individual. Do not have each person mixdown. The mix will become very muddy fast. Also for best sound quality use .wav format files they take up more space but have better bandwidth than mp3

Hope this helps

Aha...I noticed you're in CT and wondered if you were aware of Herr Lichter, especially since you go "au naturel" with the sounds...he's great - I'd love to visit Dirt Floor but I've been dropping the $$$ on my own gear and rarely leave the vicinity (stay-at-home dad). Maybe someday...TGIF to yuz!

Greetings from Down Under in Australia Village Jammers
I first heard this band on my space and instantly loved their sound , singing and production. When you have played for as long as they have the music comes alive and breaths by itself, and great playing always makes my spine tingle and my ears prickle. I just love great acoustic guitar work and tasty dobro.
Its a pleasure to support such great people and I hope that they go on to bigger and better things with in the music industry.
