This is a very minimalist song. I'm most proud of the piano bit I came up with for the instrumental interlude in the middle. It for the most part ends where it begins, with my voice and a very basic acoustic guitar accompaniment.

Like nearly all the songs in "Sweet Famine" I wrote "Open All The Doors" in the beginning of 2016. I had spent all day, since the sun came up, trying to write a new song and by the evening I had resorted to writing 4 pages of poetry. Melodies and chord progressions weren't coming to me. Finally, within the 4 pages of poetry, I found a handful of lines that struck an emotional chord with me and I set out organizing verses and a chorus. Once they were assembled, as I began strumming the guitar and attempting to sing, the words lead the way to a new melody with the lines I had chosen and this song miraculous took shape within a minute and a half or so.

Sweeter it grows and hour by hour
Rich as a plum, fair as a flower
Lately have you seen that it's begun?
But I'm talking to myself
"Pretty me, but not today. Okay"
On Monday morning when I open all the doors.
Do not forget at morning light
This message pass: That I've stepped out
working on a poem I will recite.
But I'm talking to myself
"Pretty me, but not today. Okay"
On Monday morning when I open all the doors.
