An amusing and upbeat track by Indie singer/songwriter Sue McBride about the unusual situation Santa, the reindeer and the elves find themselves in for Christmas 2020. The song was written to find humor and a reason to smile, despite the safety precautions and social etiquette that will be necessary during the upcoming holiday season for people around the world in 2020, due to the present worldwide health emergency.

This song was inspired over a kitchen table in NFLD,Canada, when Sue and her friend Olive Warren were discussing the sad state of affairs for Santa and the kids having so many safety precautions to implement for Christmas 2020. Needless to say, there was a lot of laughter around Olive's kitchen table that late night in October, as they imagined the scenarios Santa, Mrs. Claus, the elves and the reindeer would have to face with a Covid Christmas. From that kitchen table session, the song 'Covid Christmas' was born, and Sue put other songs she was recording on hold to release this single, her first professional Christmas recording, to the world for Christmas Music 2020 playlists. It was truly a work of love and a great deal of collaboration to get the recordings and mixing done, and a lyric video ready. Many, many thanks to Olive Warren for the laughs and lyrical inspiration, Aaron Klingbeil, Sue's audio engineer, graphic artist and video editor for getting the recording and the lyric video for this project done so professionally and done so quickly.

Dear fans,

I really hope this song and video made you smile, and to find something to laugh about. May Christmas bring you joy and love, and have a very, happy New Year!

Merry Christmas 2020,
Sue McBride xoxo
COVID CHRISTMAS
Composed by Susan McBride, copyright October 24, 2020

Lyrics:

V1
Christmas time won’t be the same
With Covid in the air
Santa and Rudolph have a treacherous night
With the masks they have to wear.

V2
Plates of cookies, reindeer food,
A glass of milk or two
Leave Santa’s food in the packaging
A plate or a cup won’t do.

Chorus:
Ho! Ho! Ho! You should know
With Covid in the air
Better wash your paws for Santa Claus
Christmas... will soon be here!

V3
Social distancing ‘gotta be done
For Santa, it’s complicated
You’ll get on the naughty list
If your house is contaminated.

Chorus:
Ho! Ho! Ho! You should know
With Covid in the air
Better wash your paws for Santa Claus
Christmas...will soon be here!

V4
Careful not to yell or sing
Speaking moistly just won’t do
DON’T sing this song without your face masks on
Merry Covid Christmas to YOU!... EVERYBODY

Chorus 2X:
Ho! Ho! Ho! You should know
With Covid in the air
Better wash your paws for Santa Claus
Ending: Christmas... will soon be here!
Christmas...will soon be here!
Christmas...will... soon...be.... here! x
